Slow Evolution...

The lettering chrome flaking off soooooo...

Who's good at body work? Notice the letters pealed a bit of paint? I plan to sand/buff that edging and then hit it touch up paint then buff/polish car THEN ceramic coat the works. Good plan?

I decided to take some stuff off of mine today. Trying to get it ready to fix some rust and replace chassis legs, then spray the entire underside with some epoxy once it's down to bare metal. Then all new subframes and drivetrain from TRE once Jon is finished.

Its been too hot lately to work on the Evo but I got some work done last night, at 8pm when it was still 100° in the garage.

Finished putting the timing belt cover on
Got the serpentine belt and stuff back on
Stock downpipe is on
Stock cat is on
Oil drain tube installed
Stock lower intercooler pipe on

I think I got everything down low done and put back on. Now I just have a few things up top to bolt back on and I can hear it run again for the first time this year.

People think I'm kidding when I tell them I can loose about 5lbs after spending a day working in the garage. They just don't understand. : lol:

Duuuuuude... I do not do well in humidity LOL. I like the heat, but only if I can get away from it. Humidity = 24/7 sweating. That's brutal.

I dont either. I was dripping sweat the entire time. Had the fan blowing on me but felt more like a heater than anything. Of course its going to be in the low 90s this weekend for once and I wont have any time to work on the Evo. I can deal with low 90s cause that typically means high 70s by the time I go out to the garage. Looks like I will be pulling some late nights after the kid goes to sleep. Really want to get this thing back together and sold.

I don't want to hear from either of you California boys about humidity. There is no humidity there.

I didn't experience the wonderful experience of holding an umbrella in the rain while also full body sweating until I moved to the East Coast.

It came off my 9 turbo but I thought they both used the same wastegate?

Ya you got it worse but we can still complain about 100° and 70% humidity weather. Doesnt come around much but you better bet you are going to hear about it when it does!

Haha. Sounds right. I went out to the garage at 9 PM it was still about 90° LOL
I do miss the all nighters, I'm just too old to do them anymore. like, literally. If I stay out late working in the garage, I am hurting for about two days

I have lots of friends leaving California. They keep getting on my case for staying here...
then, I silently laugh to myself when they post all the crazy crap they have to deal with. LOL
one of them can't even register his car in the state he lives in.
then there is the one dealing with hurricanes.
and then ....
And then.....
The grass is always greener. Every state has its own crap to deal with, you just have to decide where you would rather live and deal.
yes, it's expensive to live here. Yes, there are a bunch of weird liberals ( I don't deal with them, but I hear about them on TV and Facebook...like I care).
but, the weather is awesome, there's a million things to do, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Plus I make twice as much here then if I lived in any other state.

I dunno. I make the same as I did in California but I do work in a privileged industry. My Evo passed inspection here, no way in hell it would have in California. There is less traffic. This state isn't on fire. I'm a weird liberal and this part of the state works for me. We bought a house that would have easily been twice as much in California. In fact I don't even think the price of this house is even available in California anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I miss California all the time it will forever have my heart, but, and I can't believe I am saying this now after living there for 35+ years, California is going to be no longer a sustainable state to live in the near future. So we got out before everyone else does the same.

Different strokes. I can get a NICE house in places I don't want to live. Doesn't help me much, though.
the beaches, race tracks, and pay keep me here.
I'm super happy here and also happy for any of my George that happy with where they live.
Maybe they don't like racetracks or beaches, so of course why would they want to be in California?
Not everywhere is for everyone.

We have racetracks and beaches too, I ain’t talking about Nebraska here, but yes, I understand your mentality, I was like that for a long time.

Also, I’ve lived in Fresno, not sure that people there can be too critical about other places. 🤣
