evo IX help

i have an 06 ix mr,currently 24k miles.ive had it for 10 months now,no mods to my knowledge except a magnaflow TBE.everything is stock and i just noticed a difference in boost.i tested it doing 80mph on 6th,i floor it,then it reaches max boost on my gauge( w/c is stock).ill take it up to 4k rpms,it drops to about 500 rpms(without releasing the gas pedal at all) then boost's back up.it drops on both my boost gauge and rpm.(this is in every gear)kinda like when an automatic shift's through the gears.i know i burned my stock clutch a couple of times(launching, stalling uphill when i get really frustrated)its my first manual tranny car and i just cant figure out if its my clutch slipping or a boost leak,or something else..can someone elighten me?.im about to go on deployment(okinawa) and i dont want to leave it like this since im gonna start buying go fast parts and mod it when i get back.any input on this will be greatly appreciated thanks!

sounds like the clutch is going out.

You might as well upgrade it with a beefier clutch that will be able to handle the power you plan to have in the future

If I'm reading it right, sounds like something else. When the clutch is slipping the RPM will go up but your car doesn't really accelerate. You'll notice it more in high load situations, (boost it on the highway in 6th gear)

that just doesn't sound like a clutch, RPM dropping without releasing the gas pedal???

yes, that's exactly how it happens. its weird because it drops on both my boost gauge and the rpm gauge.and i know it cant be just the gauges because the sudden "drop" in boost and rpm is felt on the car, engine sound too.

it drops on mid-boost.all i remember was the car wasnt fully warmed up(1/4 on the temp gauge) i started boosting and taking it up to 4-5k+ rpms then shift. i powershifted it a couple of times before(on accident, while trying to shift really fast) but that was a long time ago.it was fine till today.

Check and make sure that the two plugs that hold you stock intake sorkel to the rad support are there and secure

Are you using the correct spark plugs? I doubt its the problem but its very common for mitsubishi techs and others to put the 8 plugs (which are shorter) in your 9 which will cause breakup. I doubt its causing that much of a drop, but who knows. Mine does this sometimes in 5th, just sometimes because I don't have a tune and the fuel just isn't with the timing. Are you tuned?
