Evo in SNOW :)
anyone gotten to compare an evo to an sti in snow? i know they didnt have an acd or lsd until 05, so im talking 05 and up, cause thats what im trying to buy. from what ive heard, the pre 05 evo's are a little worse in snow, and 05's and up are just as good or better.
the evo just seems like such a better setup chassis for the sti, its just sad there isnt as much of a rally evo following in the U.S. everyone thinks subaru's are the only cars good on snow and dirt, while in europe, its the evo that everyone idol's for slick conditions.
as for salt, have any of you really had a problem with it? i have a 20+ year old bmw that has been in the mountains its whole life, meaning its driving on snow AND SALT like 100+ days a year and as long as ive had it, it gets washed maybe once every 4 months. when i got it checked out recently, there was not one sign of rust.
so i gotta think that these 3 year old evo's arent gonna have any problems when they touch snow every now and then. think how your car would feel if it was human! its like telling a professional football player he can never play football, its just not right!
plus evo's look 10x better when they are dirty.

well first off i have a evo 8 03 model with some hancocks on and it handles great.. i can't speak for newer evo's but i do know that the 10 is not as good in snow... i just went out with some 05+ sti's and they seemed to handle just as good... the o4 sti did get a little caught up but nothing to big... my friend even had a 05 i believe wrx and it did great... just preference i think.. im so glad i went with an evo and most people on here would probably say the same... bang for buck we rock... plus we look way better then the sti's do.. IMP
I can say the STi is a little better in the snow due to DCCD settings and what not. I havent driven my Evo in the snow yet but I've driven friends Evo's and they did very good aswell. Like said before its all about the tires in the end, you can have RWD and a good set of snow tires and handle like a champ too.
Personally the evo is a great all around car and the snow made me love it even more... plus i have taken it in sand also works great... just got to love all wheel drive and the EVO
had a blast today in the snow..only an inch or two but it was an experience..one question though..i tried hard braking to see how the car would react..the abs would activate then when i would let go or while it was braking i would hear a rattling/grinding sound..kind of like a spray can type rattle ? anyone else experience this ?
