BTW, the MR is the most common IX, it's the second heaviest IX, and it mostly consists of a cosmetic package - the drivetrain on all IXs is the same, save the MR's 6-speed that has issues and offers no real advantage over the 5-speed. If you'd like to buy an Evo, do some legwork and see what each model designation is about.
Good luck.
Really, who can possibly tell you which car you'd prefer? You drove both; what's left?

And it offers one huge advantage over the 5 speed and that is well, a sixth speed. Meaning I can cruise to work on the freeway at 65-70mph and not be revving over 4k rpm. Saves gas, doesn't run the engine as hard.
People have trouble with the 6 speed because they leave it in fourth during road races and overheat the damned thing.
Apparently nobody with an MR knows how to downshift properly.
And as for it being the most common IX, sounds like you pulled this one right out of your ***. Show me any souce anywhere that says the MR is the most common IX.

To wit:
0358 - Evolution IX RS
3667 - Evolution IX (includes SE editions)
4176 - Evolution IX MR
8201 - Total exported Evolution IX to North America (USA)
The only thing "cosmetic" about the MR over the other IX's is in fact the vortex generator and a nice little MR added onto the "Evolution" badge.
Non cosmetic would include: HID Headlights, 6 speed transmission, blistein shocks, BBS rims, aluminum roof, hood, fenders, and gauge cluster.
Get your **** together before you tell this guy what's up, because you really don't know much about these cars it would seem....
Having fun? Search for your car and maybe, just maybe, you will avoid a similarly embarrassing incident.

i've owned two Evo IX MR SE's, but i had to do a lot of searching before i could find them. seeing as how you have the Evo IX SE, the only difference compared to YOUR car is the bilstein shocks, 6th gear, and obviously the MR badging on the interior and exterior.

Don't even get me started on the bagging.
Given the confusion in your post, I'm not confident that you'll be able to find the production numbers posted in the message above yours. So, here they are once again:

Please look at the sales figures posted in response to the post below yours. You'd know that, too, if you bothered to search.
Along with the weight, price, the useless cosmetic add-ons, and the the flawed transmission. I know that you mentioned the 6-speed ,too, but not having that useless POS is a big plus. Great argument!

1. You doubted the production figures and you were wrong.
2. You were incorrect as to the differences between the MR and the SE. I don't need your permission as to the phrasing. Live with it.
Please see above. You have no point.

where did i ever say that the six speed tranny was better than the five speed? i never said that. i was simply stating the differences between the SE and MR SE models.
To the OP... Depends on where you live and the life you lead. Your post say you live in SD... is that San Diego, South Dakota? Do you have to worry about snow? Do you have kids? Is this going to be your DD? It really depends on this type of stuff...
Both cars are going to hold their value relatively well, so I wouldn't worry about that. I think both are very reliable as well.
Having owned an Evo for 5yrs now, I would go with the Vette but thats me. My buddy has a C5 with gears, full exhaust, and some other light mods. Let me tell you his car is fast. Traps 115mph with crappy 60fts. I like the C6's and I wouldn't mind owning one...

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
The C6 is a much improved Vette overall. But they are two totally different cars. I agree, drive both for a bit, see what you want. The choice is yours.
If it's a LS3 C6 Vette.......
Get the Vette.
It's a better performance car than the Evo.
Probably not as practical, but seeing that you live in San Diego where weather is nice pretty much all year, then get the Vette.
P.S. I just searched some of your previous posts and see that you did test drive an IX MR and didn't really like the feel of the car.
Just get the Vette.
Great car for 1st time standard transmission drivers; I believe the Tremecs are very durable

First FJF you have no class, and you are giving kingofmalaka the wrong impression of jerk a$$ evo owners... as well as drifting from the subject, kingofmalaka if u have to ask the question of wut car to buy then the evolution awd car is not for you... its a tin can thats worth 25-30k for an 06 mr.... i had a turbo integra and will never forget the first time a rode in a evolution(making wanna buy one)... so my friend it seems that the C6 corvette is for u....

Wow lots of good info in regards to the production numbers...
I recently purchased an EVO IX MR myself and for me it came down to finding one that was in good condition, did not have a crapload of warranty work done to it, and price... depending on where you live, it affects price and demand. I live in the DC area and after 3 months and over 28 EVOs that I considered(6 of which I test drove), it came down to a GSR SSL or an MR. Its really what you will be using the car for. For me its just a weekend car and maybe a DD and planning on cosmetic mods mainly(wheels, suspension). You really have to ask yourself what you will be doing with this car. As for the Vette, remember its an extremely impractical car, my girl has a 350z and she is tired of barely fitting groceries in it. Everyone here provided all the differences between the cars so first you need to decide which car you want first, then look at which EVO will fit your needs best. I came from the STi community and I am extremely happy with my MR, but if I would of gotten a better deal on a GSR with the same mileage and condition, I would of went with one as well. Either way its an awesome car. Good luck.
