Who's Gonna Keep Their EVO Forever?
I plan on keeping this car to the point where my kids and their friends go "Dad what is that in the garage under the cover?" Then I will look around to make sure the wife isn't around respond "That is where happiness comes from".
Ok, well not that cheesy, but you get my drift???
I realistically plan on keeping this bad boy until the time it becomes a classic and hopefully after that.

Never planning to get rid of mine.
Original owner, sits in the garage all winter to be played with in the summer. It's my fun car.
With just under 10k miles on my '05, I would never sell it. Especially with all the money put into it modwise for the track!

bought my 03 back in early 05, couldn't tell you how stoaked i was to get one, and all the good times I've had on and off the road lol, I don't think I'll ever sell it even though I've thought about it countless times because of good deals with other cars. but idk we will have to wait and see what mitsubishi comes up with next, crazy how mitsubishi already came out with a X in such a short time.
I'll probably buy another car thats a given but as long as the aftermarket world provides parts for my evo it'll live forever lol

I have no plans to part with my Evo VIII. I picked it up in April 2003 (two jobs ago).
As parts wear out or break, they'll be upgraded. As long as the aftermarket is able to supply quality parts, I will keep buying quality bits to keep the car performing at a high level.
My only serious concern is body rust. The Mitsu paint is serious garbage and I have occasionally (well...actually frequently...well...just about whenever I look) found rust in strange places (under the wing bases, crash bar brackets, anywhere the thin paint was chipped, etc.). Maybe a quality re-spray is a necessity in my future? $5k scares me...unless it was for an engine rebuild!

hah! you sound like me. before i got my evo I had owned a nissan 240, honda civic, integra gsr, integra ls, honda prelude, and a crx...but none of them stayed longer than a year! This one, i might keep for a while!
Hard to justify selling a car I owe nothing on, have owned since 4 miles, love driving, and does nothing but run as hard as it can without giving me an issue.
I'll only continue to add to my garage with the Evo staying right along side anything else I buy...

hope this economy and future policies will not affect our ability to keep this wonderful piece of technology, and please stop with these global warming, carbon footprint reduction/taxation, go-green, electric go cart policies (coming down on us soon) and let us enjoy a nice country drive with whatever chilapy that we choose.
My goal is ten years. I've had my Alfa 14 years, spent five building it. I've had the westy 11 years, spent five building it. I'm about to start building the evo. As long as it doesn't cause me to lose my license, I'll keep her around for a good time.
