They always try to make you take that gamble when really they are sitting there hoping you bring it in because the cards are stacked in their favor. They know you broke it and they want to give you false hope that they will pay for it.

Mine was broken too, but I still had all the pieces just sitting in my cup holder. So today I pulled the column covers and pushed it all back together. Then took a zip tie and wrapped it around the switch cover and the ignition cylinder and tightened it down. Then to top it off I took some black rtv gasket maker and smothered the back in it and let it dry. Works good as new.

i'm about to tackle this problem this week. i will take pictures of my bare steering column and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I actually got around to fixing it this weekend and it's REALLY easy. I have pictures and will get them uploaded tonight.
