Got 2 tickets for excessive exhaust noise, and almost got a ticket for the WHOLE CAR the cop said that I changed the image of the car from a LANCER to something else, I was like WHAT THE HELL YOUR TALKING ABOUT??

I showed him the owner’s manual and he didn't know it came from the factory with the hood and big wing, he then let me go saying that he never saw an evo before, well I don't blame him it's rare to see an evo here in my country.

And almost got one ticket for the license plate number, because it was on the LEFT SIDE OF THE BUMPER.

^^^ Actually he was very young. (Assuming that's why he tried to get me for 2 things that on the ticket, are one word apart. One being an exhaust ticket, even though it came back as a brake ticket.) not once did he even look at my brakes, or my exhaust.. Must have took offense when I educated him on my car. (which I did in a professional manner)

They're just pissed that they make $15/hour and they want to make your life as miserable as theirs are.

Umm cops make good money actually. There's a big deal here that cops were able to retire making 100K+/year after 2- years of service and now the state is ****ed. There's talks of raising the sales tax .5% because they really ****ed the system good.

LOL!

I have a ticket for my blow off valve, and stock exhaust.

"Excessive Volume of Exhaust"

"Unknown Noises from the Engine - Unsafe"

HAHAHAHAHA.
I cant wait for my court appearance. Im not paying this damn ticket and they wont make me.
I have a stock exhaust. The Blow off valve box has the damn D.O.T approved crap on it too and all, and im going to show it.

The cop actually said to me " What this, one of them lil jap crap race cars huh? Pop the hood, boy, I know you got something goin on over ther".

Moron, cant speak properly worth a ****. Checked my entire car inside out too Luckily I keep a clean car though and only had ME, My wallet, and Registration/Insurance cards xD

What a shame though. I only put 109 miles on the car since Ive owned it, and I got that ticket right about when I had like 50-60 miles on it.. :/

Made me look at this car a whole lot different. HAahaha

Eh, this is so damn stupid.
I have to pay $350 bucks for this, pfffft. Like thats happening <_<

Oh and cops here make like 35K a year.

ur from pa -- was the cop a state boy? if not id of told him to **** off when he asked about the car. when he asked about my BOV i would have asked him about his gun. when he asked about my exhaust i would have asked him if he used those cuffs on his wife too.

Im not in the least polite to ******* cops. And when in doubt.. whip out the cellphone and begin recording video. See how they straighten up. At least here in PA - cops have zero expectation of privacy because they are performing their duty's as public servant. Record away.

There is much truth to the stereotype that cops abuse their powers in order to satisfy themselves. I'm sorry this happened to you man. Fight it.

Day I bought my car was driving home and and got pulled over by a state trooper for no plates. I told him I just bought it a few hours ago. He didnt believe me till I showed him the title. Then he proceeded to tell me my exhaust was illegal, I told him it was stock (which it is) so he told me I should take it to a shop and have it looked at because something must be burnt out inside. Finally he gave me a warning for the tale light in back window being out.

This trooper is known for going after cars and trucks with loud exhaust but he wont pull over a Harley thats straight piped and deafeningly loud......

One time late at night on a nearly empty road, I passed a cop coming the opposite way (he was the only other car on the road, I didn't think it was a cop). I went WOT through 1st 2nd and part of 3rd gear, undoubtably speeding. I had a JMFab o2 dump and a Buschur Bullet TBE with test pipe. Needless to say, it was LOUD.

Still not knowing it was a cop after I passed him, I'm slowing down and I see flashing red and blue light coming up on me quick! I thought "ah man " I pulled over and the first thing the cop said was " bad timing, huh? " and yeah, those smiles are there for a reason. He was a younger cop told me my exhaust was really loud. Gave my car a wuick walk around, complimented me a few times and told me, he hates to do it, but he has to give me a ticket (Driving too fast for conditions). I was ok with it. there was no denying I was speeding due to the exhaust note, but he was a cool guy, enver said anything about any of the stock parts. Infact, that was the only time in two years that I owned it that I was pulled over in my Evo. I was never given a second look while driving around town or on the highway, and my Evo wasn't exactly stock, or subtle, but it wasn't obnoxious looking either.

Getting pulled over for stock parts, I can see how police might make the mistake, but that is why you have the opportuniy to fight the ticket, because Police do make mistake. If you're ever pulled over, don't argue. Just explain to the cop that eveything is stock. If he oesn't believe you or doesn't want to hear it, then fight it and bring in proof.

Those breaks saved my car just last week. I was driving about 35 MPH through a 2 way stop intersection. I had no stop sign. A guy sitting still at the stop sign just decided to go when I was about 50 feet from the center of the intersection I came to a stop about 1 foot before his right rear quarter panel. You should have seen the look on his passengers face as he watched me squeal directly toward him. Anti-lock helped too because I had to swerve left to avoid contact. If I was driving a regular car things would not have turned out so well.

The "inadequate brakes" part is probably him referring to you leaving it in gear as you decelerate, causing it to engine brake as you also apply the wheel brakes. It causes more noise than an automatic car does since the automatic will basically shift into neutral until the gas is reapplied.

In every state I've lived in, it has been illegal to coast or decelerate in neutral if you are driving a manual transmission car. Basically, the officer was looking to bust you on something. You were either going to take a ticket for inadequate braking system (meaning you had to rely on your engine compression to slow your car) or you were going to take one for coasting in neutral (which you weren't doing).

Too bad there are some police officers out there that are like this. I'd hate to see how things would be if all officers went around trying to satisfy their own agendas.

I was pulled over for wing, tail lights, and exhaust in Virginia back in 2003. All parts were stock. I didn't get a ticket.

A couple of times when the car was new in the US, I was pulled over and asked about suspected modifications done to the car. I asked if I had done anything wrong and one time the officer said that my car matched the description of a vehicle they were looking for (a likely excuse) and the other time the officer said "No, your car just looks modified."

I was pulled over just a couple of months ago for no front license plate and dark window tint in Illinois. The officer took the time to pull me over after turning around in traffic and following me for a couple of miles....Just to tell me that if my car was registered in Illinois that I would be getting tickets. I told him that I wouldn't, because if it was registered in Illinois I would follow Illinois laws - just like since my car was registered in Kentucky that I was following Kentucky laws. He said something like he couldn't believe Kentucky didn't require a front plate, and I responded with "Kentucky traffic enforcement isn't looked at as a revenue generator." He handed me my license and registration back and walked away.
