Post if you've ever been pulled over for OEM parts!
I myself got pulled over for my STOCK EXHAUST back in January and i'm still waiting on the Court Hearing.
So I went to the Mitsubishi Dealership and got it inspected and of course my exhaust system is stock of course. So they told me to bring the signed documents that they have given me and bring it to the hearing. SHould be a quick easy win.

haha. sick thread. i got pulled over for my stock wing as well. the cop said "well u know you are attracting alot of attention to yourself with all these aftermarket parts like that big wing." at the time my exterior was bone stock other than tint
I wonder if the Pontiac Aztec, Toyota Prius, Honda CRX, and Honda Insight are all illegal in these officers eyes because of the obstruction of view claims. They all have hatches in the back that limit the view and the black portion of the rear of those cars is actually tinted lens, but above these tinted portions, there are solid sections of material that clearly obstruct just as much rearward view as the OEM Evo wing.

"Look out of the Insight's rear-view mirror and you'll see a split-glass view featuring a cross-member that horizontally bisects the field of view."
And now here are some examples:

Pulled over by police to "check seatbelt compliance". Found out later that the "seatbelt check" is actually not allowed in the state when it hapened.
Officer took issue with...wing (stock was too high), exhaust (stock was too loud & simply must have been modified), HIDs (stockers just couldn't be that bright), and tail lights (the factory wouldn't use clear housings as stock tails now would they?).
When push came to shove before a judge, I presented the original Mitsu Evo brochure showing the stock vehicle and listing the stock parts as compared to pictures of my vehicle in the court paring lot earlier that morning. (FYI-I now keep the brochure in the glove box in case of future harassment). The judge was very annoyed with the officer for wasting his (& the courts) time.
All citations dropped. Officer (after being dressed down by the judge in court) ordered to issue official apology.
The police continually display a complete lack of understanding or respect of modern cars and/or the import car hobby. They've seen too many stupid movies about imported Japanese cars where everyone who drives a stylish car simply must be a racer, criminal, or other cliched law breaker.
I hope that these patterns of abuse of power stop. Good luck with your case.

its because the wing looks aftermarket like the other whale tales you see Nopi and other cheap aftermarket parts company makes. There have been way to many people with cars modified to look like how the EVO comes stock for them to know the difference unless they are into Japanese cars
I got stopped by a MA state trooper one time. My car was far from stock though. He says "I stopped you for no front plate, Dark tint, 11 month old Rejection sticker lmao and he goes to walk back to his car and stops and say OH by the way your car smells pretty bad from behind..... you know why". I thinking great I am getting written up for a big ticket even though nothing was moving violations. He comes back and say hey I wrote you up for no front plate its $20, have a good day...... oh yea one more thing, uhh are these cars really actually that fast? are they as fast as everyone says? I laugh and say "I don't know I never go faster than 65 mph sir" He replied "oh ,ok I had a feeling you would say something to that effect, have a god day"

The "inadequate brakes" part is probably him referring to you leaving it in gear as you decelerate, causing it to engine brake as you also apply the wheel brakes. It causes more noise than an automatic car does since the automatic will basically shift into neutral until the gas is reapplied.
In every state I've lived in, it has been illegal to coast or decelerate in neutral if you are driving a manual transmission car. Basically, the officer was looking to bust you on something. You were either going to take a ticket for inadequate braking system (meaning you had to rely on your engine compression to slow your car) or you were going to take one for coasting in neutral (which you weren't doing).
