squeaking/chirping noise heard while driving?
While driving I can hear what sounds like a rotational noise, like a squeaking, as best as I can put it. It doesnt seem to come from one wheel, but rather undereneath the car somewhere so far as I can tell. It comes on at speeds above 15mph, below 15 mph its quiet. Doesnt matter if Im in gear or in neutral, but always starts up at 15 mph++. As Im going faster the noise gets a little louder, but mostly faster/more repetitive. Any ideas? Thanks.
It's coming from underneath the car? Things I can think of right off to check would be the drive shaft, make sure the breaks aren't rubbing, check the axles. It also couldn't hurt to take a look under your hood and make sure it's not a belt.
I drove it somewhere to try and isolate the noise. It now actually seems like it might be a wheel bearing, possibly left front. kind of hard to isolate the noise when Im driving. If I had to descirbe the nosie better, I would say it most sounds like a bearing squeaking? I inspected suspension components, belts and tensioners thoroughly. I didnt really examine the drive shaft or test the wheel bearings? Anyway to test if its the wheel bearings without taking off the rotors and calipers?
I'm feel like we have the same squeaking noise from the driver-side wheel area... Mine stops if I apply the breaks a little bit but not enough to slow down the car so I think it might be the wheels rubbing on the brake calipers since my rims only have like 1mm of clearance. Do you have aftermarket rims?
