Sounds like you need to upgrade to an evo 8 wing... =)

The joke is on you buddy, because it's true.

Many Evo owners of the true carbon wing with clearcoat peeling do not want to bring the wing in for warranty because the replacement part number is for the plastic Evo IX wing.

The only difference is the inner plastic, neglible when we are talking about a wing that split down the middle up top. Did you go through any carwash's recently before this happened? I would think one of three things.....

- you open the trunk by lifting on the wing (over time it can /stresswarp any wing, and closing it will do the same)
- you go through car wash's (the ones with the rotating materials that come in contact with body parts; not touchless)
- someone indeed did something to your wing, but I would think that would be hard to not notice since most of the time when the car is parked, you approach it from the back end and would see it.

The evo 8 carbon wing will break with the addition of an exrta downforce device in addition to repeated high speed runs!!!
This has happened to many people all over the world guys!
I have even seen the evo7 wing, which is stronger and thicker to the evo 8-9, flex at high speed to the point where it touches the trunk but not break! Scary stuff!

But these are the facts!

Not saying I don't believe you but do you have any links to these just to satisfy my own curiosity? I am sure this cannot be an isolated incident, just the first one I personally have heard of.

haha
it can happen
only if u adjust your wing to 45 degree
or else i dont see that happening
flex during high speed
come on
if a tornado is coming
maybe i would have believe it
haha

Dunno if it was mentioned or not, but has anyone closed the trunk by using the wing? I doubt that would be enough to damage ti but who knows?

I asked twice haha, maybe not quite enough to damage it the first time but repeatedly and with some force, yes. Many people open and close the trunk by wings on all kinds of cars, this is a big no-no.

pretty sure these things get wind tunnel and track tested over the generations. yours probably had a defect

If this was a common occurrence, it would be ALL over evom

not saying that downforce didn't have a role, but i have a hard time believing you actually destroyed your wing with aggressive driving while countless others have done the same kind of driving and had no trouble.

It was probably damaged before, and the excess downforce caused the snap. take it to the dealer and good luck!

Wow congradulations on posting two links with people who don't know what they are talking about and thus making yourself look stupid. The evo 8 wing is full solid carbon fiber. The evo 9 wing is not but it also isn't all plastic as you say. If you really think so, something is wrong with your pea brain. The only part that is plastic is the sides. So you think the evo 9 wing is plastic because it's hollow? Umm no. The CARBON FIBER piece on the evo 9 wing is CARBON FIBER. It's just not solid like the evo 8's thus making it weaker and prone to breaking like the thread starters wing but it IS carbon fiber. I don't care about a damn part number. I know for sure the center piece on evo 9 wings are carbon fiber and not plastic. Like I said the only plastic part is the sides and thats it.

PS: Sorry if I come off a ***** to you even though I am a customer of yours but I know I'm right and you're wrong. It's just annoying when people on this forum spread false information.
