Painting Intercooler Bad?

I asked a race car engineer this exact same question before I painted mine black, he said they paint inter-coolers and radiators to match body paint on race cars all the time. He's actually measured the intake temperature himself on painted/un-painted inter-coolers to test it and there was no difference. He told me it's all about air-flow, air-flow, air-flow (yes, he said it 3 times). So, as long as you use a thin coat, i.e. don't get paint clogged up in-between the blades, you can paint it.

I was really into this discussion, as it's old and there is NEVER a clear-cut answer. Reading post for post, I eventually came to yours.
