Drive by wire??

Hey everyone. I had a quick question. Are evo ix's DBW?? I'm pretty sure my brothers evo x is. And I just wanted to know before I got my ix if it was or it wasn't( hoping it's a cable..)

No they use a traditional cable. You can physically see the throttle cable wrapping around the top of the valve cover and back toward the throttle body.

Phew. Ok good.. I didn't really have access to an evo ix engine bay.. Although i guess I could have googled it huh..

The reason I ask is because when I drive my brothers car I hate it lmao ( love his car just not the throttle ). I take my foot off the throttle and the rpm's are how u say.. Still there or actually what has happened a few times; the revs actually get a bit higher when I press down the clutch.. Drives me absolutely nuts. That's why I asked if the ix's wereliene that because I didn't wanna deal with that.

Now I just wanted to let u guys/girls know I did search. And the only thing that came up was if evo viii's are DBW.. And I couldn't really assume that if the 8 wasn't DBW the 9 wasn't as well co sidering the 10's are.

And sorry if spelling or grammar is off, this is all from a phone.

All I can tell you is my friends 07 Civic SI is drive-by-wire....and the EVO is nothing like that.

The EVO throttle response kills the SI's anyday.

Little bit different kind of car there. lol
I never noticed any throttle response problems or due to the DBW system to be honest.
I had an SI like that and I think my Z was too. I prefer the cable though cuz you can adjust.

Well for the most part, it's very difficult to distinguish a DBW car vs. Cable with todays technology. When I owned an AP1 S2000 and took an AP2 out for a spin I wouldn't have guessed it used DBW.

not only the adjusting of the cable if u needed to. bur its just like DBW is just another thing to maybe mess up or something..nothing like mechanical parts to ensure, rather than electronics
