Angry Need some opinions on some powder coating I had done...

UPDATE 10/23/09 (scroll down)

Excuse my post, I'm a wee bit irate right now. Just want to get the consensus on what others would do.

Just had my calipers powder coated for $200, and this is what I got back.

Let the damn games begin!!!!!!!! UPDATED 10/23/09

And I quote from his email to me yesterday:

Now, i saw the pics on the thread you posted and bashed the work and acknowledge the chips....the powdercoating should NOT be chipping off at all so it's obvious a quality issue with the powdercoater, which makes me think they did not bake them long enough. (You already know that i didn't powder coat them myself; i simply removed the pistons and seals and dropped them off)
Now you're saying the entire work is crap, which tells me is an obvious sign that you're just trying to scam the cash back

I mean WTF?
Now you're saying the entire work is crap, which tells me is an obvious sign that you're just trying to scam the cash back

Really, then why do I have invoice from today where I had to TAKE TIME OFF OF WORK TO GO CLEAN UP YOUR CRAPPY POWDER COATING JOB?

AND WHERE THE FAWK ARE MY BREMBO BLEEDER VALVE CAPS??!!

I have given you ample time man, man up or I will.

They look pretty sharp, I would put them on my car. However, I would see if they can touch up the trouble spots you highlighted.

It is VERY difficult to cover up powder coating blemishes with out re doing em.

Make matters worse, it's not local either.

Nice, but when you've paid for a perfectly refinished piece, that's just not acceptable.

Were these done locally to you? I'm sure they can re-do them and compensate you for the down time.

LMFAO at you selling ANOTHER Evo.

They are not local, but I am shooting for compensation as they obviously need to be re done.

Maybe it's just me, but hell, a chip on the front of them? I have to get them re done.

So you're telling me you already had the car "down" to get these done? What sort of time span are we talking here?

I just want to get an idea of how much you lost here. Many people only look at things from a financial perspective and don't bother with mentioning the one thing you can NEVER GET BACK.

If they can redo it at their cost, I would but if you'll have to pay for it then just put it on for now and when it needs to be repaint, find another place to do it. GL

TWO FUGGIN WEEKS?!?!?

Refund and a visit to a local powder coater seems to be the ONLY reasonable solution here.

did they powdercoat them with the pistons and seals still in the caliper-i thought that was a no-no because of the baking temperatures.

does it really matter what others think you should do? you paid for a perfect job, call the vendor and see what they can do to help you.

I wouldn't tolerate any imperfections.
I'd want a redo or a refund.

Pistons were removed as well as the dust boots. This is why the dust boots are not pictured on the calipers. They were torn during the process.

The reason I posted this is because while I know I have issues, to others it may seem very minute of a thing.

I believe I payed good money to get these done and at the very least, the faces of the caliper ( which is visible when mounted ) should be blemish free.

At least should get back $100...the fact that they sent it out in that condition shows lack of professionalism, and quality control.
