annoying rattle
I just found out about a cd-rom that is a tool used by Porsche to find squeaks and rattles. I bought one and it did find a rattle right away that I suspected in my car, which is I think a known spot. The B pillar seat belt inner cover slider area.
The cd has about 13 different chapters. Each one creates a different sound pitch through the cars speakers. You can vary it by radio volume and fader, plus the cd has other sounds. Varying from low pitch to high pitch, and then a couple chapters with varying degrees of deep bass.
Some of the sound bits from this cd actually sound like rattles, everywhere in the car, making it hard to find the true rattles in the car. But overall it's a good tool for trying to find at least some of the noises. It's p/n 000-721-979-30 and you can only get it through a Porsche dealer parts department. It runs about 15-20 dollars depending on what the markup is at the dealer you buy it from.
