.
Am I the only one who likes the unpainted handles and mirrors?
I can't stand them..
Search the threads and you will see that IMHO the RS is the base broiler of the EVO world..
The pics are nice because I'm considering purchasing one, I dont need "creature comforts" Im looking for a track beast, and your "comforts" are my minor setbacks. Nice pics, anything with that bodyline is gorgeous in my book!
it is very nice for us people who are thinking of buying this car. if you don't like it than you don't have to buy it. for me this car IS an eye candy because i am looking for a track car
Enjoy all thos folk who desire the stripped down version of this car..
I REALLY DON'T WANT TO **** ON YER WHEATIES but
waht the fock is the big deal??
Nice comparo pics
Great comparo pics! Now, concerning the "why an RS?" comments...
The whole idea of the RS is to bring at least 3 more groups into the EVO community: serious (I mean SERIOUS) performance guys, guys looking for a track car, and those looking for a bit cheaper version of the regular EVO.
The performance guys are going to strip all of that stuff out anyway - why pay for it in the first place? Makes perfect sense.
The track guys are looking for a 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th...) car for having some fun with on the weekends. They don't care about the luxuries, they're looking for performance, and perhaps cost. Less features mean less weight. That means a higher HP-to-weight ratio, which means quicker, more nimble, etc.
The guys looking to save some scratch are thrilled that maybe now they can step into an EVO, experience the performance, and mayber are willing to compromise the creature comforts that everyone else gets. The lower MSRP might just make the difference between getting it and not. It might even lead to a slightly (granted, maybe just a few bucks) cheaper insurance premium.
The RS makes sense to me. It'll suck that all things being equal, the RS will pull slightly on the regular EVO due to the lower weight (was it 150lbs lighter?). Chrysler did the same thing with the Neon (the Neon ACR) - it was stripped and meant for autocrossing and road racing. It was a harsh vehicle compared to the regular Neon (I know, the stock Neon was no picnic either
), but it held some definite performance advantages that helped pick up some additional customers for Chrysler. I'm just hoping that Mitsu ends up providing as much amateur motorsports support as other manufacturers like Chrysler, Subaru, Mazda, etc. give. With Mitsu monitoring tracks and drag strips, their "support" hasn't exactly been great
.Hey, some guys think it's nuts to get a sunroof on the EVO since that adds extra weight and takes away from the stiffness of the chassis.
It all boils down to personal preference....
