Clutch

Hey,

I've had my car for a couple weeks now. I've noticed the clutch is very hard to get used to. It has to be let ALL the way out to engage (which I know you can adjust the engagement in some, but I've read that can also cause shifting issues)... but not only that, but it is very "touchy" and engages very fast. I let a fellow evom member drive it, and as he describes it, its like an "on/off" switch. The entire car is stock. Could it have an aftermarket clutch? Is there any way I could make it a bit more drivable? Fast shifting is basically impossible the way it is.... Thanks for the help.

Pop off the trans inspection plug see what the clutch is. Can see if its aftermarket. I would try the pedal adjustment also check the shifter cables/bushings.. start there. Then check the slave cylinder and fluid level..

Where's the inspection plug? I'll be down there changing the fluids this weekend anyway so that works out.

An on/off switch sounds like a puck clutch.

How do you drive the damn thing!?!?! Taking off from stop lights I have to let it out very slow so I don't let it out too fast and make the car jump like an idiot! But I end up looking like an idiot anyways because I sit there longer than everyone else trying to careful.

Is your engagement point almost all the way out on yours? I could still try and adjust it so its closer to the ground some.

If it is a puck clutch, which I think it is, it takes alot of getting used to. Its not so bad with a 6 puck but a 3 or 4 puck is pretty ridiculous for daily driving.

Every once in a while when I let up off the clutch and start moving, I hear a rubbing sound, almost like the brakes are rubbing. But I obviously am not touching the brake pedal. Could this have to do with the clutch too?
