Test confirms boost leak on the TB.

Hello,
A month ago I did a pull on 2nd gear and pop one of my intercooler pipe.
after I re-attach the pipe, some how the car wasn't pulling hard as it use to be .
Currently I decide to do a boost leak test , and the leak was coming from the throttle body , it seems the gasket(s) gone bad.
I'm not sure if this was the cause of my problem, boost gauge seems to show pressure but the car was very sluggish , on 2nd gear at 4-5 rpm the engine roars hard but takes a while to catch up to a car.
Can anyone tell me if the leak is the source of sluggishness or I'm just paranoid?.

Sounds like a bad leak to me.
Throttle shaft seals are probably one of the most common of leaks. They aren't too hard to switch out either, just a little time consuming.
Also once the throttle shaft seals are fixed it usually allows other smaller leaks to show up.

TB seals are very easy to change. Did mine in 20-30min. No more leaks for me.

Throttle body shaft seals is most likely the culprit. Get them replaced with Mil.Spec throttle body shaft seals. It is about an hour worth of labor.

They're the good guys, most vendors sell their products because...well they make high quality parts - https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...available.html Get the gasket while you're at it. They also offer a how to on here.

WORKS TB Seals are where it's at.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...aft-seals.html

^^^ There's your how to. Good luck and be careful putting the new seals in. Make sure they go in even. I had to order a new set because mine caught on the TB and rolled the lip over the gasket. Pissed me off

Yup, I talk to the mitsu mech at the shop and they said the job would take about an hour and half to replace the gasket.
With the write in this forum I could replace it myself but didn't want to take a chance
Of damaging other things.

It is funny how the shaft seals fail in pretty much anything 4g63 turbo, I mean damn a person would think that Mitsubishi would figure it out eventually.

Here is a update.
I decide to bring it to the mitsu mechanic , He was not able to find the leak
in the back of the throttle body with his can of carburetor spray.
I use a home made test kit like this one to determine the leak.

http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html

I'm damn sure it was a leak due to the hissing sound and by spraying soapy water
on it.

Yup, he even charge me for it wether he finds it or not.

He than insist me have my serpentine belt replaced or i'm going to be looking for a engine rapair and claim that my left caliper
is leaking and needs servicing for about $100.( my brake fluid have been drained 2 weeks ago and i refilled it).
I'm looking at close to $750-$800 parts+tax ,and labor .
