damn synchro help!
searched but wanted to asked a couple questions
2006 evo ix 5 spd, racing today and when shifting into 5th at over 5500rpm it grinds, im guessing the synchro is bad right?
what kinda dollar amount and what are my options for the fix?
(not mitsubishi out of warranty)
was there a TSB that mitsubishi will fix for me out of warranty?
thanks guys

5th gear is known to evoix to do this mine does it not much you can really do about it unless you get new ones. if going oem yea will happen again. i would just take it easy in 5th and save for a built trans :P i give it about a sec before engaging 5th but i dont slam it either and will go in with out grinding.

Save up for a Shep Trans, will cost you somewhere around $1000, plus anywhere from a $300 to $700 dollar labor count. Don't do a shop rebuild, because no shop wants to be held accountable for any issues they might have after resembling the tranny just to fix a synchro issue. Most reputable shops (who know what they're doing) will want you to replace everything. The lowest quote I got was $2100 :-(

My '06 IX 5th grinds too. I searched and the Evo III have a TSB for it on their cars, but I couldn't find any on the IX.
Seems funny that you guys have problems with it too.........
