Wet Belt Squeak

I know there are a million 'car sound' threads, but I searched for anything on this problem and I would like to get the wonderful EVO community's input on my little squeak. I have developed what I think is a drive belt squeak when getting heavy rain or going through a car wash with an under-body spray. It got so annoying that I had the drive belt replaced but the squeak actually came back after a few weeks although it isn't quite as bad. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'd try and take a closer look at it, it might be split.

my old lancer used to do that. belt would squeak at start up right after a car wash or rain. timing belt was changed, didnt have the problem anymore. figured it was just the belt, but if you already replaced it, then not sure what your problem might be. you're def not the only one though

take a really good look ate the pulleys, make sure all the grooves are still straight and look clean. also make sure the tensioner still puts enough tension on the belt. if it seems really easy to pull back, replace it. it could have glazed your new belt.

I had the same problem on mine after going through a carwash. Once I went through it that one time the belt always squealed whenever it would rain out.

I had the serpentine belt replaced which fixed it... until I went through that same car wash again I go through periodically during the winter time just to make sure I get all the salt and crap that they put all over the roads here off the car but this is the price I pay.

Between the squealing belt and the squeaky as hell brakes my car really sounds like it's a giant POS haha

yeah - an answer would be great - i replaced all the pulleys, tensioner, serpentine belt, and timing belt around the 30k mark because it started squeaking regardless of rain/wet/damp out or not - it was annoying, embarrassing and plain retarded

right now the car's at 46k and it started squeaking again - but only when really wet out and goes away when everything's dried/warm-up which really pisses me off cause by the time i get to the dealer the problems gone and they're like "oh we don't hear anything your car's fine"

It could be the tensioner is getting weak. So, I suggest a new accessory belt and tensioner.
