Wingless
I have to disagree the spoiler does attract negative attention. To a cop it's a ricer mobile, they will pull you over with it. I have a friend who would get pulled over and he took it off and now he never gets pulled over.
Love the wing, took it off just to refinish it and I didn't like it, it was different but didn't like it. I love it it isn't goin anywhere, and it doesn't cause me any unwanted attention from the cops, and I have a decently loud exhaust, I just don't drive like a douche.
i have been driving with my evo with no inspection sticker and dealer plates with the massive wing and iv had yet had a cop pull me over. for the people saying "cops use to pull me over when i had my wing and once i took it off they stopped pulling me over." did it ever occur that maybe since they first pulled you over when you had the wing they recognize you (and the car) and dont bother you anymore? this goes with my eclipse, it had a Apexi N1 exhaust that was loud as hell. i was pulled over once and then never again in my town.
I am wingless but that is stock. RS FTW. clearly Mitsubishi thought the wing was not needed for their "track car"
If people need a wing to tell them the car is a EVO they are stupid. Maybe its me but a evo and lancer don't look similar.
I will agree if you do go wingless do it right and fill the holes or get a new lid.
The red evo in the OP was a RS btw.

i personally like both i took mine off and i still know its an evo im not out to impress everyone i like keeping myself happy but i think the agressiveness comes from the flared fenders, wheels, and knowing that it will still throw you back in the seat
agreed the agressiveness comes from the fenders.no reg lancer has that.just take it off and save gas...more mpgs..

as for getting pulled over more because of a wing.. thats rediculous!! i love how some people say "i had the wing, and got pulled over all the time..then i took it off, and havnt since"...well, theres more reasons than just your wing! theres so many variables to account for.. a few for instance.. you bought the car and it had the wing..but it was also a new car to you, so you beat it up more, enjoying it, getting used to it.. redlining it.. then as time goes on, the frequency of that dies down, and you become more civilized with your car (most people).. in that time somewhere, you took the wing off...
sometimes cops just want to be dicks! regardless of a wing or not! some people get unlucky! ive been pulled over 2 times in my stone stock hyundai elantra because i forgot to use a blinker, or had tinted rear side windows..both times leaving without a ticket.. but it didnt have a wing! and it was a hyundai!
i have an RS, and added the wing, and can, with 100% certainty, that the very few times ive been pulled over, it had nothing to do with the wing! and how do you all know it was the wing????? did you all ask the cop????? did he say "i pulled you over because you have a big wing!" no, i highly doubt it! your just assuming! much like the people who say red cars get pulled over more.. that has been proven false! many times over!
alot of people in this thread are just plain ignorant! it all comes down to simple taste! i like the wing! i think it makes the car look great! yes, its functional.. but i love the looks! some people dont care about the function, and prefer the wingless look...that fine! great for you guys.. ive seen a few that look good wingles.. and by us having different taste makes everyones car being that much different.. i will not knock wingless owners. but i prefer my wing

i agree with removing the wing doesnt matter for staying under the radar. i got pulled over a week after taking off my wing and got my hood popped. I wasnt even driving when the cop stopped and waited for me...so lame.
I think it looks good both ways, it all depends on what else is done cosmetically. When my apr lip is on i like wingless, when stock lip is on i like the wing. Another thing i like without is the handling. i like the feel of the car without the wing better for some reason.

One of the major factors in being pulled over is what city and state a person may live in and has less to do with the wing. I've noticed several folks have stated being pulled over and they live in Jersey. Well, cops are everywhere in Jersey and are always looking for a reason to pull anyone over. When I go through Jersey it doesn't matter what car I'm driving... Evo or not... I make sure not to give them a reason to stop me. I live in Philadelphia and the police here could really care less and have bigger issues to deal with. I've owned the car nearly 7 years and only have been pulled over once (outside Philadelphia) and I was doing 75 in a 55. So the officer was justified in pulling me over. But if you are obeying the traffic laws they really have no reason to bother you. I also keep the car stored outside the city in a small town and there's a Police station down the street. Everyone knows my car in this area and the Police are constantly pulling people over for traffic violations, however, I've never had a problem with them.
On a side note, I guess it comes down to preference and how a person plans on using the car weather to keep the wing or not. IMO, I'll never loose the wing because (1) it's functional and I'm a fanatic about down-force and high speed stability, and (2) I think the Evo looks it's best with the wing on. But go for what you love.
Just my 2 cents.

oh dear... a fellow rs owner who doesnt know why thier RS came wingless... mitsubishi designed the RS to be a stripped down track car, and the wing was negated because most true racecars have much bigger wings! very few racecars use the factory wing, so it was one place they could save weight and lower the pricetag..but how many road race cars do you know that are wingless???

way too many retards with evos nowadays
I will disagree on the unwanted attetion statement. When I had the wing on my car I got about 5 tickets in about a year and a half. I took my wing off and have not even been pulled over in over 2 years. My driving hasn't changed or anything. My car actually is louder now then with the wing on it. And still never been bothered with
