are evo's really that great in snow?
Mine is amazing in the snow. I had an STi for a few winters and loved it, and the Evo is now definitely just as awesome. that said, it is definitely all in the winter tires you have too! I had the Advans on for 2 days before I could get on the blizzaks and it was the worst drives of my life - those things are hockey pucks on ice... bad news bears...
The other week we had a ****-ton of snow, monday morning I wake up to snow past the bottom of my door. had to dig into my car pretty much. got it right out of the snow bank it was in with no problem, didn't even move any snow.

^You can run any tire size you want, but the narrower the tire, the more potential grip you have in the snow. Most people run 225's or 215's, but I chose to stick with the oem size since the roads aren't covered in snow 24/7, and I'd rather not lose that necessary contact patch
.Back to the thread, although the Evo is built for the snow and winter weather, you have to take into consideration that it performs much differently in cold harsh conditions. I'm talking about way more rattling sounds, super clunky and loud suspension (bilsteins) and it's just better in general to park indoors.
That being said they still perform extremely well in the snow!

evo snow
Just went through the northeast snow storms also my commute to work is close to 90 mins. Didn't have any trouble in the snow. jut remember the car is light so you can slide but def a ball to drive on the ACD snow setting
I agree with the tires consensus. I have Blizzaks with about half tread left and I pulled a Subie and Nissan SUV out of the ditch/snow at Sno*Drift, but was able to drive myself out of about 2 feet of snow when I slid into a ditch later. (Couldn't see where the ditch was when I pulled over and slowly slid sideways into it from a stop... quite embarassing)
I think you mean Ipike w409
