My tip: start practicing without flooring it all the way. Just give enough throttle to get to your 2-step and hold that until after the launch when the clutch is fully engaged, then floor it. You'll get an idea of how fast you need to release the clutch without picking bits of your tranny or clutch off the pavement.

And +1 for ODUB's method. In theory it's really simple, but things happen real fast when you try it for the first few times. I wasn't flooring it at first but I realized I still wasn't releasing the clutch fast enough after it had started engaging. I could smell it after my first try. Once it starts engaging you need to VERY quickly release the rest. That's why I recommend starting from a lower rpm/TPS to get a feel for it.

granted his way isnt that harmful to a clutch but youre still technically burning the clutch having it partially engaged... i dont see any advantage in partial engagement but i dont see any real down side either... personal preference is all that really is.

and i'm with the guy who said if you cant afford to break it then dont bother to begin with. if i shatter my tranny then shep or tre will be my new best friend for a month and i'll be out on the track about 1000 miles later...

anyway best of luck to you... i hope you get the launch down the way you like it.

Someone should make a tutorial, all you would need is like 3 camera and 2 people.
Camera A - Whatchin dash

Camera B - Whatching Pedals(Clutch,break, Gas)

Camera C - Whatching Driver.

just my 0.02

I could do just that actually. Anyone want to donate funds for a launching
tutorial to pay for the new clutch I'll need after I'm done?

Honestly, you just need experience and learn from it. People have their own way of launching and so should you. But 3k is too low, and there is a reason why Evos have 2 step aka launch control. Get on it

3k will prolly do more damage that good. you'll bogg like crazy.
a lot of ppl say "slip" you almost wanna do a mixture of slipping/dumping. u dont wanna dump but you dont wanna slip. try and get it right in the middle you know? depending on the kind of clutch you have also contributes

Slipping the clutch is the best way to save your drive train parts and get the best 60 foots. ask all the big dogs why they do it.

Stock 2-step is set for 5500, when I picked my car up the 2-step was set for 6200, should I be worried launching the car with this increase?

03 evo's rev limiter is set at 6200. just get a tune and you can set it down to 5500
