Titanium exhaust trouble !!

guys i have an evo 9 mr with a full Titanium exhaust from trust.

i was driving and when i shifted to 3rd gear at 7,000 rpm the mid pipe between the muffler and the test pipe fell .

i think it wasnt welded proparly.

Do you think it will happen again after welding it?

Best bet, v-band your test pipe. Titanium has trouble being welded to steel

If you want it welded correctly you have to go to a exhaust/muffler shop that specifically welds titanium. It may be pretty hard to find a place that does that and will probably be pretty expensive.

Pictures would be nice. Are there no flanges? Did the weld clearly break? Is it a slip fitted system? There alot of variables. But I would say that not many places around you will weld titanium properly.

the easiest/ cheapest route would be to goto an exhaust shop and have them make a slip fit test pipe out of stainless steel, cut off the flanges on the downpipe and cat-back(if there are any) and just slip in the SS test pipe....thats what id do because like stated earlier, its going to be hard to find someone to weld titanium

I think the tomei is also made of titanium and I have heard stories of other owners running titanium exhausts having issues with getting them repaired. Your best bet is to slip fit a test pipe as not many shops will be able to weld titanium.

i heard of that problem with the trust Ti exhaust, so i got a JIC magic one....no problems shifting at 9500k (just alotta fire -__-) , take it to a exhaust shop and have them see what they can do to fix it!
