With the EVO now being extinct, does that mean the value of the IXs goes up?

u guys want ur cars to worth more?? be strict on all maintenance items, wax, clean and wash her regularly, dont street race (irresponsibly)and wreck her, and finally don’t modify her the cheap way (neon lights, ductaping, spray painting, abnormal lips, and gigantic wings for street use...etc)
Iam guessing its a tactic they are pursuing. just like the camaro, gtr, tbird and many other models, where oems pause production, then bring her back up few years later with more power and a bigger price tag. till then enjoy urs
Well...I suppose it depends on rarity. Out here in China, mostly rich kids bought the evo; a lot of those were modded badly and/or crashed. Pretty much every time I go to the dealer, there's an evo in the back that's been completely smashed up...
I think there 's probably only about 20 clean (read non-previously crashed, not prisitne) Evo IX's left in Shanghai as I've only ever seen a few others. The only 1 I've ever seen for sale online is mine and that was over a year ago. I've had a few people come up to me recently asking if I wanted to sell, one even offering what I paid for it originally; that didn't happen much before.
I'm pretty sure as more of them are crashed or run out of steam in Europe and the US, it will become much easier to ask for more , because you won't find more than 1 or 2 on e-bay anymore either.

Production of the current Lancer Evolution continues as planned.
As for its successor, regulations and market feedback will dictate its engineering package & architecture.
MMC has kept the Lancer Evolution sedan evolving as the brand's highest performing model in the global market. However, as the market's needs and demands change, MMC is considering not advancing the Lancer Evolution concept in the same way as before, but to find a different direction for the Lancer Evolution model to evolve. The new direction, the technologies involved, and corresponding products will be disclosed in due course.

I'm sorry but IMO the X's were.....well not really "evo's" at least not what they used to be. If that’s the way Mitsu was going, then good riddance, I like the evo 1 till 9...so its not like there will be a shortage any time soon.
Being a somewhat rare niche car I can see it being valuable in the future. Will it be as valuable as a supra or a 69 camaro? No, but I can see it hitting bottom then bouncing back up. Nobody ever thought an early camaro would be worth anything. Done right even the non-SS models have good value.
Of course if your evo is high mileage and ragged out it wont be worth much (goes for any car).

I think in 5-10 years people will say "whatever happened to cars like the evo ix? fast, light, raw, etc..." I'm not sure if the news necessarily brings the value of the IX up, since the IXs were already no longer in production, but this can definitely make the car a "legend." I think the last thing anyone wanted to see was the evo become the next eclipse.. or Mitsu just bring back the name "evo" to sell more cars, like dodge did with the charger
I just put my COMPLETELY STOCK Evo 8 (87K miles) for sale the day that article came out. I think I have the only 8 for sell in the midwest west of the Mississippi. I was asking 15K and I already got farmboys dropping emails like crazy. I was thinking of keeping but I think selling it now would be the best option. I just hope when I get back from Bahrain I can find an X or GT-R.
