With the EVO now being extinct, does that mean the value of the IXs goes up?

I don't think the value will increase. Not anytime soon, at least.

Maybe we can have a rice tax on our cars in 20 years like the AE86 boys have on their cars.

Also I don't get what people are saying about VIII's being more raw than IX's up in this thread. I know that if I didn't have my VIII and I had to pick between an '03-'04 VIII and an '06 IX then I'd get the IX. Wish I had the money to pick up an X while keeping my VIII though.

I like my evo, but it isn't that great to fetch top dollar. By then better technology will be out and I will be enjoying it.

Lightbulb

The 9 regardless of what 8 guys think is just as sparton as the 8.
I think the 9 MR stock for stock is the best evo ever made. I like the bumper and tail lights, and head lights and the dimond black bbs rims on the se, but these do not make the 9 anything more except, better looking IMHO.
Mechanically though, The 9 turbo is an upgrade for the 8. As is the recirc valve, I don't know of anyone steeling parts off an 8 to upgrade a 9. The mivec is far more a power advantage than peak HP numbers suggest. Enough on this though, the 8 is second only to the 9 imho.
My thoughts on the X go about like this. If I could not get another 9 MR, god forbid something happen to mine, I would get a 9 then an 8. If I could not get an 8 I would get an old dsm (tsi/gsr awd) or galant vr4, but never-ever-ever a 10, they are not true to the form. In fact I would switch to subaru. The X is a contradiction to me, far more a luxury car with a buzy 2l motor still, and for why?.. so they could call it an evo still IDK .
I know this sounds harsh but when the Evo Xs were being sold here in Anchorage, AK they were being priced as if to compete with the BMW 325xi.
I realize they are still very fast but, I just like many evo fans like the 8&9 better.

IMHO the 9 MR SE in either of the three colors will be the most saught after evos that where sold in this country. Representing the Evo at its most evolved state before it became something different all together (IMHO). If everyone owning one thought of it with as much luv as me no one else on the planet would have a chance of owning one.

The theme of this thread shows this much for sure: Evo guys love what they drive. So they should all do better as the numbers are diminished.

None of those cars had the street cred. Not even close. The Evolution is just a turbocharged sedan in the same way as white truffle is just a mushroom. Fortunately, many Evo owners don't think that, killing the cars and almost forcibly bringing about a sense of scarcity. This can easily be seen in the prices for the cleanest examples, and how little time they remain unsold. This is now, while the cars are still relatively common. As the demand for the nicer samples shows no signs of dying-off, I'm very curious to see what happens in the next five years.

They have been "extinct" for a while and they don't demand high prices.
That's a valid point. We really can't expect to see big numbers from these cars for many, many years and even then it'll hinge on the prime examples. Ultimately, it all depends on what we see as big numbers. Personally, I'm astonished that my 4 year old Evo is worth ~70% of its original cost today.

Id like to get a couple things straight with you 9 guys, first off for for you to say the 9 is better and the " last original evo' is ridiculous, my 05 evo 8 has ACD as well as the 10.5 hotside and techincally speaking it is the LAST TRADITIONAL 4g63 motor. there was never any Mivec on any of the 4gs. as for exterior styling yes the 8 wasnt exactly the most beautiful evo and thats why i do have a 9 front on mine. As for rarity and value, this topic has been beating to death so many times in the past but then again im probably one of the few Original members left on this site. the 9 was MASS PRODUCED as much as all of you dont like to admit it , they are floating around all over the place. the most rare was the 8 MR in graphite grey, the 9 MRs were floating around like honda accords when they came out. the evo 8 whether it was just a gsr, rs , or MR were more of a rare sight to see and only few had them. valuewise i have been checking most recently and the values are holding pretty good, i even contiplated on selling mine a few times but just never could because i feel i might regret it later on. and the ONLY REAL REASON why a 9 is supposedly more
" sought after" and "valued" more to people is... BECAUSE THEIR NEWER!! common sense it has nothing to do with it being the better evo or anything its because everyone always trys to get a newer version of whatever car their searching for because their mindsets are new means less problems and less wear and tear. so evolution 9 boys and girls, their is definetly no hate because we are all evo owners but if your gonna come on here stating ignorant not relevant facts then dont post, if you do post then come with the correct unbiased info and thats that.

With all the beat to crap Evo's in the world, as a whole, no, I don't think the value will change.

Though, I do believe, in 10-15 years, maybe longer, if you were able to come across one with under 30k miles, totally stock (<--- hahahaha) then yeah, it'd probably be worth a pretty decent amount. But they're not rare enough. Trying to sell your modded to hell Evo in 10-15 years, you'll get like $5000-6000 probably. Bone stock with low miles, I'd see them still going for $20,000 or maybe higher. Just my opinion.

None of those cars where really any good anyway.

The Evo, I think has the popularity and disrability to possibly be worth something. It's an icon. It was a race car. It really was a special car. Those other cars, the GVR4, 3000GT.... there weren't as iconic as the Evo is.

genuine??? only difference with my car to yours is the is minor exterior differences, different color seats, and you have a oh so powerful mivec head
It kicks butt?? i dont see 1000hp evo 9s runing around **** not even any evo 9s making more then 400 to 500 hp.. that sure says alot about it
" kicking butt". more then likely with your under 20 post count i can safely say your gonna either end up selling or trashing the car before you know it. your probably just some fanboy who just happen to hop on the bangwagon, i bet your even at the age of 25 yet.. thats tells alot...

You guys are funny. You're all missing the point of Evo ownership, DRIVING THE DAMN THING!

This is a homologation special made to race. Not a poseur car. Go out there and see what makes the Evo so damn good.

My Evo will always be in my ownership, and hopefully well into 500,000 miles in the next ten years.

Evo garage queens make as much sense as a hot wife you don't have sex with.

It's not often that you see people arguing when they both own pretty much the same car..I could see if this were the 8/9 vs the X, but c'mon guys the 8 and 9 platform is more similar than different.
