Evos and beater cars?
I used to have a 1gb Talon TSI AWD I used as a beater in the winter. Than I started modding it with intake, exhaust, rims, etc. since it was so easy to swap parts with my GSX. It was fun while it lasted, but I finally had to sell her.
I'll find another one one day

i tried DD'ing my Evo because my 2 other vehicles can't be winter driven, but that didn't work out very well, especially with the gas prices the way they are now. that and i felt bad racking up so much mileage on it
i ended up driving my sister's mint low mileage '01 A4 1.8T because she moved out of the country

I dont mind putting on the miles on the evo, but since i drive alot on the highway and since i live in middle of nowhere kansas everything is about 20+ miles so the evo is not the best choice but its all I got for now...................................( Evo X) maybe....
use to dd my evo(55,000 miles) for years 03 to 09 starting to rust so it went to storage this winter picked up a 96 tahoe for 300 bucks but i mostly drive my wifes 04 pontiac GTO 5.7 6 speed i think having an evo and a LS1 small block chevy compliment each other perfectly. if its nice enought 03 zx9r.
I've always had at least 1 other car to drive since I got into track days and tuning. Something WILL happen when you start using the car for more than transportation...so I have to have a backup for work.
I've typically had pretty tame cars as 2nd cars, although my current 99 Civic Si isn't necessarily a slouch...it just makes me appreciate the Evo more when I drive it.
With gas prices being what they are and me absolutely loving my Evo, I couldn't bear to see it doing daily commute duties.

Got my DD 91' Toyota Corolla for free from my aunt 3 years ago. It was a little pissed cause my uncle put a battery in backwards ie hooking leads up wrong lol. So a new batt and some wiring and she's going strong @ 230k...i love it...my evo is an 03' with 74k and likes my warm garage.
i was using my kia sportage for winter duties, but a couple of weeks ago alternator belt snapped on the freeway. made it back home and decided to put insurance back on the evo and drive it again. hopefully no more snow in wisconsin.
I used to DD a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo just to keep the miles off of the Evo back in 2007-2008, as the Isuzu got worse gas mileage than the Evo did, but I had a relatively short drive to work at the time anyway. I just found myself generally unhappy when I wasn't in the Evo, though the decision was clear after I moved and had only the Evo.
It's not bad, but for me, I'm in Southern California (so it's not exposed to any crazy weather) and my commute to work is about 3-4 miles, though it's all through stop lights, and I visit my family about 100 miles away about once a month. So it's not racking up miles like crazy, especially for a DD.
