Intercooler replacement
I'm playing with the idea of replacing my factory stock IC on my 2003 VIII driver. years ago it collected a raccoon; making an uneven mess of the little heat dissipation fins but not causing any leaks. Since I plan on keeping the car for about another year, two max, I was wondering if there would be any performance value in replacing it with something a bit bigger bigger? I was thinking about something like this:

If you're not planning on keeping the car I would just pick up another stock one in the sale section. Should be able to find one a lot cheaper than the ebay core...without racoon parts in it.
For the price, that unit performs better than the stock intercooler.
If you're just looking for a replacement, there is absolutely no sense in spending $700 when you can get something better than the stock intercooler for $175 shipped.
That being said, that intercooler you're looking at on ebay doesn't really fit properly. It mounts to the chassis okay. However, the inlet and outlet on the castings are casted at the wrong angle, so using the factory couplers is a PITA. When you do get them to fit, they are more like a 20* angle rather than the 40* (approx) that they're supposed to be.
Why not just pick up one of those Mishimoto intercoolers with the logo sprayed on upside down and hit it with the TAL spray-on aircraft stripper? Those things fit pretty decent for $150.
If you're looking strictly for performance, then look at the BR, AMS, ETS, CBRD, etc...
