evo 8 deathwhine..

After downshifting to 3rd to pass someone on the freeway, I heard a noise similar to my boost flutter that I'm dealing with right now (except it never happens in 3rd gear so that made me nervous). So I shifted up and drove normally to my destination.. HOWEVER once I started slowing down from around 25mph to a stop I heard a winding-down sound/whine. I also only hear it past 25mph when applying the throttle. The sound is loudest around 40mph and gets a little quieter as I go faster. I guess it's the infamous transfercase deathwhine. But I just had a shop replace my fluids with oem diaqueen. I don't think the shop would have messed that up.. so I don't know what to think right now..

it sounds like whatever it does in my video lol ( I was going on and off the throttle at the end and you can hear the whine go on and off) I did not record the winding-noise it makes... is that also part of the deathwhine? It happens either in gear or not in gear and starts to happen around 25mph down to 0.

The sound seems like it's coming from the engine bay too.

the winding-down noise while decelerating below 25mph happens if it's in neutral or in gear

well is there something that caused this to happen? I never launch in first gear and the tc oil was replaced with oem 2 weeks ago.
I have 43k miles, is that when they go? lol

are you the original owner? if not then it is very possible the previous owner beat the car to death and that could explain why its dying

since you say you never launch in first gear, are you saying you dont launch it at all or you launch in 2nd

True, my TOB is noisy as fudge. Though, OP, your vid sounds like the T-case. TOB kinda sound like a coffee grinder.
