Most of the aftermarket oil filter manufacturer's got it wrong. As far as I know, only WIX gets it right. The OE mitsu filter and WIX filter look the same. Everyone else just specifies the regular lancer filter because it will thread on.
My 93 Stealth and 98 VR-4 have used the K&N and mobil 1 filters for years, the stock mitsu filter for these cars is pretty small, it used to be larger but they changed the P/N on it and the new one is TINY.
I recently went into a NAPA and one of the guys at the counter was able to cross reference a WIX which is larger than even the k&n/mobil 1. If you guys didnt know the k&n and mobil 1 filter are the exact same piece. I dont recall the WIX part number but your parts guy should be able to find it for you.
