Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
Congrats dude...Best advice, try and focus on the car's handling the first 600 miles. Going around turns will be enough of a blast for ya, until you unleash this beast at 600 miles.
Like I just did today!

Does anyone know how much logging the stock ECU does? For example, some only hold the last 10-50 miles of data, whereas Porsche's hold ALL activity since mile 1.
I wouldn't mess around. Mitsubishi clearly states to try and keep the engine revs below 5k rpm the first 600 miles.
I mean...come on, your not going to trust the manufacturer who built the engine in the first place? I'm pretty sure they dont want to see a bunch of premature killed engines out there coming back to haunt them.
I personally believe in breaking it in per manufacturer specs. Their all different...I bought a jetski once and it specifically said to vary the rpms and keep the throttle below 75% the first 10 hours.
I've read stories of motors which weren't broken in properly which resulted in excessive oil consumption and poorer gas mileage. Specifically with the S2000 and the C5 vette motors.
Its up to you though....just throwing my 2 cents worth in..
I've also run into people who have said breaking it in the way your going to drive it is the way to go.
Well....I have never seen a multi-million dollar company (never mind billion dollar one) endorse that claim. And until I finally do...I'm not believing one word of it.

Refinanced my house, took $25K cash out, and due to the record-low mortgage rates, my payments are lower now than before the refinance.
But trust me, my mortgage payment still dwarfs your car payment.

My mom just bought mine today
Its really simple when you just pay for it outright
The paperwork took just about five minutes
Signed about 7 times and wrote the check and we were out with my Silver Evo with sunroof and wing!!!!

I dont have an evo Yet....
I am a Dj here in Texas, and live in an apartment but I do fairly well and dont like paying bills.but im willing to do it for an EVO.
Depending on what the payments are i think i could swing it. I have a 2002 Se-R that will be paid for in about three months, but I am moving way way far away from my cars and home for about a year. So I am still up in the air.
