Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
jedinite got a race prep E36 M3 and he's convinced by Evo's handling and power. It's not a 3.2L but it should be close enough.
Hope you'll find this convincing:

Similarly, I was thinking of getting a 3.2L E36 M3, or E46 330i ZHP but I ended up getting this car due to it's superior handling, power, and uniqueness.
By the way, isn't your screen name convinced yourself already? EVO first, then M3

what about this? No European car below $100k can perform as well as the Evo.. 0.97g lateral acceleration... that's really something. Porsche 911s only pull a 0.87 while the E46 M3 pulls a 0.86g.
Power wise, how much power do u want on your Evo? It's an "a la carte" menu depending on how much ***** you have ranging from 271hp to 1000hp.

I forgot to add...
if you ever think that 2 litres is too little, there's always the Tomei built 2.2 litre engine that you can buy for $4800. That should significantly reduce the turbo lag on big turbos while having stronger engine components all round.

LOL.......You guys are so funny! I just went to Barnes n Noble and picked up 5 car magazines that had anything on the EVO 8. I've been hearing nothing but positive things about this car from former or fellow ///M car owners and from you guys. I think my problem is everytime I drive my car, I can't let go of it. Rear wheel drive is fun too. I guess my only real solution is to keep this car and save for the EVO. Thanks for all your funny and helpful responses. Anyone in the NYC/NJ area want to give me a test drive or take me for a drive?

I had a 1998 M3, 4 door and sold it becasue it was crap in the wet and the snow, even with snow tires. The EVO blows it away in all respects apart from interior fit and finish and a somewhat easy-chipping paint surface. Although the EVO driving position and seats are way better.
In terms of driving enjoyment, EVO wins hands-down, no question. Faster, tighter, more responsive, better handling etc, etc.

Oh man......I know driving this thing in the snow really sux. I did it once and that was more than enough for me!
Congrats....remember to break the car in properly...it will take some patience, but it will be worth it..and your car will love you for it. In other words, be nice to your car during break in and you will be repaid with reliability.
