My evo got impounded

I was at work and i saw the car being pulled by a tow truck not a flatbed and i ran out and was like WTF and i told the guy that its AWD and he said " I don't care" So basically i think the center diff is broken, but i havent been able to get the car back yet. What are the chances its not broken? What should i do, are they liable? its an 06 mr

Wow that's ****ed up.... probably a good chance that he is liable considering you didn't sign anything releasing him from liability lol...Especially since you told him and he ignored it... Good luck man.

just cause it happened does not mean its broken. I had my car towed 30 miles like that once because it was the only option i had at the time. Nothing was broken. obviously its not the correct method and may result in damage but its not something that happens every time an AWD car is towed incorrectly. Why was your car towed?

If you were illegally parked, then you are at fault and it is going to be hard to get anything from anyone.

If you were at work and are allowed to park there, then you have the right for either the towing company or your job to pay for damages and cost to get your car out.

I am sorry to hear and good luck.

Lets hope the car does not have drive train damage.

reg expired i didn't know. They also broke my door. The impound lot was only 3 miles away and when i turned the car off i was in tarmac mode which allows the most slip between front and rear and i left it in neutral but the jerk tow truck drive might have ****ed with it. I know the 8 without the acd can take a little bit of slow gentle towing but IDK about the ix with the ACD.

sorry to hear about the tow truck guy. i dont think he's liable, although he shouldve known to flat bed it. (i watch a lot of the southbeach tows and stuff lol)

your car is on the road illegally because of the expired reg. they do give grace periods and notices.

given that the impound is close i dont think theres a problem. good luck to ya.

Had my evo towed because I was parked illegally at an apartment complex. Nothing happened though maybe I was lucky. Just make sure you get it checked when you get it back. The tow company will not in most cases be reliable though. Good luck.

A lot of these town cops drive around with license plate reading cameras and when they get a hit they ticket or tow. Technology is a double edged sword.

He towed it and knew it was AWD, what a jerk.

Reading this made me cringe

Dude I would be pissed. You need to write down all the info right now so you can document it all.

report it to your insurance company and they will chase their tail if it is broken.

That is so harsh to get towed for reg being expired. You reminded me however mine expired today and I need to slap the stickers on and get it renewed.

If he towed the vehicle after you informed him of it being awd and ignored the fact they are liable. They have the right to impound but cannot cause damage to the vehicle.

At first I thought from the title the bank repoed it and was thinking at first you had bigger problems to worry about than your drivetrain.

Gl with the outcome.
