Broken axle?

Hey guys. I thought my car shaking was my wheels needing to be balanced. Now I'm thinking it's the axle? When I turn at low speeds out of gear I hear clunking noises from the driver side. My friend listened and it's coming from the wheel area so I think it's the axle.

This morning I tried to get the same sound but I never made it again. What's up with that?

Either its your axle or your wheel hub bearing

Get under the car and check and see if the axle is broke. But I agree sounds like a hub.

Mine would kind of clunk and as i was driving it would make a noise as i drove. it ended up being the hub. But my axle boot warn torn so i replaced it at the same time. Pretty easy fix, takes max about 30 minutes with all the right tools. The hub itself it about 230 bucks though...

Fawk. Its not doing it anymore. Just last night when I was driving it hard. I've been staying out of boost and trying to manipulate the noise but no go. I'll give it a look-see tomorrow morning. Hopefully just the axle.

If it was the wheel hub you'd here it more going around a corner at speed. Not necessarily at a dead stop, and you'd hear it on the side on the outside of the turn (load bearing). Atlerast this was my experience when my wheel hubs went within 2 months of each other.

Jacked it up and checked. There was no play in the axles. Rule that out. Took a look at my power steering fluid and it was just at the tip of the dip stick. Maybe that's the problem? It only makes noise when I turn. Anyways I'm going to fill that up.
