SMOG test in California

Every SMOG test station I go to in Sacramento tells me they cannot smog Evo because its AWD. I had to take it to a dealer and smog it for $118. Anyone able to smog it anywhere else for a lot less? Thanks

Those smog stations should be able to give you just the sniffer test. that said, some parts of CA have the AWD dynos so good luck.

Any smog station can smog an AWD car. They use a TSI (two speed idle) test.

In WA they just plug into the OBDII jack. No tail pipe test. Computer monitors everything they need to know. Can't believe CA hasn't moved to that yet.

california is backwards man, every single SMOG station told me they cant do AWD because their setup runs the 2 wheels. One guy that had AWD subaru told me his car came back from a local SMOG station with a burning smell all over and then parts were falling out of the rear diff. I am afraid to let these monkeys touch my car thats why go to the dealer

maybe you could program the ecu the way you want it. a "smog tune." pass every time

but that probably sounds too good to be true.
