Best Boost Controller?

I am looking for a boost controller and gauges, and I was wondering if anyone has this boost controller http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...5&cat=4&page=1

Is it worth the 300 bucks? and is it easy to use? If I want a 400hp street car will i need to exceed 29 psi or should i just about be okay?

You will not need that to exceed 29 PSI. You can do that with a manual boost controller. Also you shouldn't base your goals on a certain boost level!

Do you want a manual boost controller, or an electronic boost controller? There is a third option worth mentioning here: You could also use modified ECU controlled boost with a three-port boost solenoid.

I don't want to rag on this particular AEM unit. But, I think that I have seen a few negative opinions by users on this forum. Maybe someone else will chime in as I have never used this piece myself. Having said that, you should always try a search on any product before deciding to make a purchase.

Finally, avoid LancerShop like the plague and instead deal only with vendors that are actively involved and participate in the Evo community and contribute on our forum.

We use Hallman Pro MBC's in all the cars we build here including Ricer.

They can be found here.

I'm surprised no one's recommended a 3 port.. I got a Hallman Pro but I'm switching to a GM 3 port.

I would stay away from that Tru boost.. I had one on my Evo 5 and it was a piece of junk.

Depends on whether you want to get a manual boost controller, or run ECU boost. There are positives and negatives to both methods. I've ran both setups; Hallman Pro RX for manual, and Perrin EBCS w/ JDM 3 bar for ecu boost control.

when i researched MBCs a few months back I decided on Forge. I plan on set and forget so I don't want a knob in the cabin some idle person could crank on that could cause me problems.
