New here help me :)

Hi, I just purchased an evo ix today! Super excited, it has a few mods on it AMS intercooler with licp and uicp, some aftermarket header, 3" downpipe and full turbo exhaust, also has intake, and mbc. I tryed to see how much psi it is runing and on my gauge it shows 30+ psi ( goes below 30 psi in any gear) is this normal on stock turbo? It feels like it has around 450whp I tryed to lower it on the mbc but it would not go below 30psi when i lower it, seems like it does not affect anything when i lower it. What can be wrong here? I called the dealer ship and they told me it is normal. Any advice would be great I just dont want to blow anything up . Thank you.

i would check to make sure everything is installed correctly. data log the car as well. make sure the tune looks good before you go out and beat on the car. maybe retune it if needed.

I would make it run off wastegate pressure until I got a tune or some datalogs.

Is this normal 30+ psi on stock turbo and the mods on there? I went on the interstate and did a pull from 6th gear to see how much psi it will do, it passed over +30psi and goes as far as it could go. Could it maybe be set on turbo max out some how in every gear could the turbo max out because i did in 1st gear spiked to like 29psi and went to 22psi and then i took it from 6th and i guned it and the boost went insane to 30+ probably around (my gauge only reads 30psi) 34psi and it was holding there like going back and forth and i let go at 130mph, on my first pull on this car earlier today the vaccum hose would blow off the intake manifold so i had to super glue it so it does'nt blow off and now it does not blow off reads well. I am a previous owner of a 350whp STI and 430fwhpSRT4 but they are much different then Evos, my biggest problem is I can not turn it down, my mbc is all the way on - as far as it could go and still maxing out the psi, I just dont want to mess up my $27,000 car.

If u dont know much about tuning Evos I'd get it to a tuner ASAP! 30+ psi is way high for a stock turbo. I would stay away from going WOT until u get it checked out.

First congrat/welcome.

You can run 30psi. Try clean that MBC and see if it working property.
Where are you located at? Bought a car from dealer or private?

Oh yeah, if you are running pump/93, that 30PSI can get you into trouble. You can get a nice email tune to make sure that things are all dialed in properly.

Check your hoses from the boost controller to the wastegate. I had my hose blow off on me one time and I spiked almost instantly to 35psi. Freaked me out for a minute, then I saw the hose just dangling there. But 30psi on a stock turbo is pretty high and like others have said, on pump gas, running it can be dangerous. I'll crank mine to around 28psi if I'm racing around, but I DD it on 24psi. I'm running a stock turbo right now.

Also, a stealership is not going to have any idea what normal is, least of all on a modded Evo.

You'll need a Tactrix cable and a wideband gauge with datalogging capabilities if you're going to go with an email tune. It sounds like you might have some other issues though so I would take it to a shop that specializes in Evos like FJF suggested so that they can do a thorough inspection.

Where are you located? I'm sure there's someone on here that can recommend a good shop in your area.
