MR coming in '05

Those things broke every year and each spoiler was like $800 to fix. So they slowly decontented the 3000gt due to mechanical reliablility as well as to keep costs down. I'd prefer they kept the Evo simple and keep selling it vs having it really complex and then 2 years later no more. Just incrementally add hp would be fine with me.
can keep their active this and active that. I dont want an active wallet.

i don't belive it, i would think that some car mag, rather then popular machanics would find out first, and there has been no mention of it anywhere. I need proof, or at least tell us what issue it's in, if it is true, I'm gonna be the first on the list to get one, that car looks like it came stright from hell to do some evil things. I love that car, and just think what mods can do to it
Considering how much the FQ300 is selling for in the UK, we are somewhat lucky that our Evo8 is US$30K.
Whether or not the MR will be here next year, I suspect it will be at least above $35k; more likely closer to $40k.
At that $40k price, it is a 25% hike and if it so justifies the "added" benefits.
The law of diminishing returns....

hahaha. how look at all the resentment from all the people on here that have the 8's. Here comes the lost list of posts from people trying to justify why the non-MR is better All to make them feel better about buying it.
I want the "MR" model in a BAD WAY.
The RS should be left overseas and this "MR" should be brought over NOW.. SERIOUSLY..
And justify it not coming over all you want folks with the "six-speed requiring more shifts" and the comments of "the mechanical stuff will break" bulloney..
The "MR" ain't coming over, and hasn't been determined to..Popular Mechanics posts false information about cars ALL THE TIME..
BTW..
I would pay $10,000 grand more for the MR and trade my 8 in a New York Minute if it came. That car is the ****.

daily driver and weekend autocrosser.
I like the STI for daily driving better, especially in bad weather. The EVO is damm good, but you give up some grip in the long sweepers where the front LSD would help keep the power down. The EVO is also more fun to drive with it's razor sharp steering.
bringing over the MR would be idiotic when they are having a hard time moving regular evos w/o discounting them substantially. Mitsubishi's marketing always astounds me....the only way to make these cars sell in the U.S. is to make them PRETTY. The next Evo should have a much, much swoopier body, a la 350Z or the next eclipse...then it might have a chance, sales wise. you don't make money catering solely towards hardcore enthusiasts...unless you are Lotus....then again the Elise is a much more attractive car that the average woman would consider purchasing.

I must admit, being a Mitsubishi fan, I've heard of the MR; I just didn't know how cool it is. So after reading these posts, I did a search. Super Street and Edmunds.com both said it COULD be a possibility that the MR or at least its technology would come to the US later on to help the fight against the STI.
The list of improvements to the EVO VIII MR sound like they're worth every penny to me. Don't get me wrong, I like the relative simplicity of my US-spec VIII, so I'll keep it. However, if Mitsubishi were to bring the MR to the US, that would certainly bury the "STi versus EVO" debate.

Call me skeptical, but "Popular Mechanics" is breaking the news first? They're not the ones I'd expect to be the first to know/share.
But if it's true, it'll make me feel better about waiting. If it wasn't for my current money crunch, I'd have an EVO. But if this is confirmed, might just have to wait for the MR.

To anyone (quickshift, anyothers)who doesn't believe my post, get your lazy *** off the couch and go grab the most recent Popular Mechanics. You can't miss it, it's got the big flying saucer on the front. I only leafed through the magazine, but I read the article twice to make sure I read correctly. Just because some car rag didn't have the news first doesn't mean it ain't dependable.
I also think it's funny how everyone is now saying "I don't want the flippin' ^%#&^&^$ differentials!!!" A year ago, half the people here were saying "I can't believe Mitsubishi didn't bring the Evo here without AYC/ACD. It's not a REAL Evo without those." You guys are conflicted. Personally, I favor ACD with a mechanical rear, but that's just me.
Rocketscience: (the guy who compared the Evo differentials to the 3000 GT), get real. I think the active differentials are a little bit more dependable than electric gizmos that really didn't serve much purpose except add weight. It's not like this is the first year of release.
And about the AWD G-SR rumor, and that you'd believe it when you saw it...well, I hate to tell you, but they've ALL READY built the MR.
It's not like I have a history of rumor-mongering and opening fake threads.
Just my .02 or .03. Not tryin' to start a flame war. Don't kill the messenger. Blah, blah...

Hey atlvalet, don't know if you're talking about me, but I believe you read what you read, just wondering about the validity of big news like that coming from Popular Mechanics. Certainly hope it's true.
