Intermittent Starting Problems - Mysterious Cause Identified and Fixed
My battery goes out and 2 days after I replace it with a new battery the alternator quits. (Pretty normal haha) My ignition is definitely rotating too I checked that out but haven' t pulled it out yet.

Hay Ted I've replaced the starter, Ignition switch, battery, there's no rotation and it still starts intermittently. . It's especially inconvient when I can't start my car to get to work at 4 in the morning....but what I have noticed is that my car will start no problem with a jump. Any theories on why that would be? Thanks in advance

Remove the upper and lower steering shaft covers and leave them off. When it acts up and won't start at all, stop what you're doing, remove the switch from its mount, and activate it while in your hand. If it still doesn't start with you palming the switch, then I'd replace the starter relay.

every time it acts up I jump it and it starts right away.
anyone find the cure?
Mine has started to not start at all, the solenoid doesn't pop out I can hear the starter just spin. No clicks at all. The techs are checking it out in our shop now... I don't have time for it any more
That sounds more like a bad connection somewhere in the battery -> starter wiring, either with power or ground.
If the starter is spinning without engaging the ring gear, that's an issue with the starter itself.

What did you do? I'm willing to try anything. Mine started doing the issue again this week now that its warmer. I just replaced my starter 6 months ago with new oem and tighten my ignition switch. The only way to start it is to rock it back and forth while on gear.
I have not but that is a good point. I might even buy a new one, still have the original. How does rocking the car back and forth then it starts relate to the issue though?
