Ok im ordering a ets 3.5". Im going to be at 450-500whp. Is the uicp a big restriction at this point? Ive heard its not early on but is it at that whp? I already have the lower icp ets pipe.

Im getting the ETS in a few months. currently stock evo 8.
So you have never used an ebay intercooler AND never used an ets, but here you are on this thread giving advice? hmm....

I absolutely LOVE my treadstone TR12 and so does everyone I have talked to running one. I had to turn my boost controller down upon installing because it flowed so much better than stock. Almost no heatsoak ever is pretty legit. They really stand behind their products too (pressure checked to 150psi and come with a 1-year warranty).

I am not standing for all ebay products here, but I think you can find them on ebay. They do have a legit site and are a company who have been around for a very long time. I got mine for $300 shipped to my door.

Here are the specs:
Core Size, 12.5" X 22" X 3.5"
Overall lenght 30"
Less than 2psi pressure drop at max flow
3" inlet/outlet
3.5" core, 1142 CFM flow rate, 760hp efficient, 1.5psi drop

$700 seems outrageously high for a good cooler. You can listen to people like johnnyjeans who like giving advice without any experience or you can take it from the people who are actually running the tread stone coolers. Your choice.

Bottom line is that I love

Anyway, I'm feeling really patriotic right now. I love

Very good post, Sir.

I was not going to post in the thread but I thought about it and decided to give my .01 cents.

If there is not a budget or you got money to spend, then a good brand part is the logical intercooler to get in this case.

All ETS, AMS, Buschur, etc. are great intercoolers. No question about it.

But please do not say that Ebay Intercoolers are junk.

I have had one for over 5 years and it is an amazing part.

Got tons of Dyno plots and 1/4 mile times slip to prove it.

And to this date, not 1 fin is out of aligment due to rocks and other bad weather.

Good luck on your purchase.

Treadstone has a 1 year warrenty as well as great customer service. All products tested at 150 psi before leaving factory.

My car is on the dyno making huge power, 640 whp with the new HTA35R on it. We have our Race FMIC on it which I say is the best FMIC you can buy with your hard earned money. The tempurature today is 62 degrees F in our dyno room.

Here is the important data:

Air temp after the intercooler at the start of the pull, 62.60 degrees.
Air temp after the intercooler at the end of the pull, 69.80 degrees.
Increase in air temp 7.2 degrees.
Peak boost was 40.3 psi.

We then bolted on the Ebay special that is an AMS attempted copy. Absolutely NO changes were made to anything other than bolting on the I/C.

Car made 633 whp and 505 ft lbs of torque. So not a bad loss at this HP level.

Here is the BAD part.

Air temp after the intercooler at the start of the pull, 62.60 degrees.
Air temp after the intercooler at the end of the pull, 122 degrees!! That is an increase in air temp of 59.4 degrees in a single gear pull!
Peak boost went up which I find strange as it hit 42.1.

The knock count went up considerably with these higher air temps. To run the car safely I would need to pull atleast a few degrees of timing.

**So in summary the intercooler with 2 more psi boost made 10 less whp than our Race FMIC at that is at big HP levels. The problem is the intercooler is NOT EFFICIENT AT REMOVING HEAT. Which is what it is there for. I am betting the stock FMIC is not much worse than this. An increase of 59.4 degrees is absolutely HUGE in a single gear pull. On a summer day or road race/autocross situation this intercooler would absolutely SUCK.

Bottom line is, you get what you pay for and buying one of these I do not think is a good investment of your money.
I would not spend my hard earned money on an intercooler from EBay. I am confused that anyone with the ability to read the above would do so. They may look good, but do not use the Garrett Core which is most the expense of a quality intercooler.

Strange it doesn't have a brand for the FMIC. Yes some of them are outrageously horrible non bar and plate design. I have laughed at some of the ebay cores. In my, as well as others experience, treadstone makes quality products that they stand by without having to pay $700. Bar and plate is bar and plate. If you want to spend BIG money go for it.

Bolded could not be any further from the truth. Read up some on intercooler cores and you'll clearly see the differences
