Evo values rose again (KBB)
. KBB is 21k for very good.
I didn't get the best deal out there, but seeing the blue book value makes me feel better about my purchase.
I paid $28,200 for my IX in May of 2008 from a Mitsubishi dealer in Florida. Car was BONE STOCK with 10,805 miles and flawless.
Now with 94k miles (cause I actually drive my car and enjoy it) KBB is roughly $20k private party value. I haven't checked NADA on it recently.
I have quite a few bolt ons and have spent some decent money on this car but wouldn't trade it for anything. The only reason I would sell it is if I absolutely needed to. My girlfriend doesn't even want me to sell it lol I'm a lucky guy

Evos aren't selling anywhere close to KBB her in Utah. They're selling around NADA values. I just bought my '06 GSR with 55k miles for $16,000. FP Green, Buschur BFIC, HKS 272's, Spoolin Up Cop, 1000cc injectors and SE lip. I've been watching the local classifieds for the past few months and not one single Evo has sold except the one I bought. lol. People are asking WAY too much for them. I wouldn't pay anywhere close to KBB and in my opinion you'd have to be a fool to pay that much.
I got my 03 RR evo in 2008 with 60,500 miles on it for $9K. It had a lot of paint fade, a few scratches, broken tcase, needed new front wheel bearings, no BOV, No catback and the key wasnt programmed to the ecu because it was a repo. I spent 1500 fixing it up and have loved every minute of it. I could easily sell it in my area for more than I have in it after 5yrs and 50K of driving. I think a lot depends on the car. A solid good driving car will fetch a lot more than a low miles car that doesnt drive right.
When I had my Evo VIII with mods and SSL for sale I was getting offers in the $12k-$14k range. I had it up for $16k at around 70,000 miles. KBB tells me it's worth more than that in fair condition now that I'm at 83,000 miles? Don't know how that works. Glad I didn't sell it though.

I bought my 05 back I'm 09 for 19k. It had 46k on the odo. When my car hit 65k I kbb the value and it was at. 15 trade in 17 private party. Now that was in 2011. Today I just checked basically 2013 and my car has 75000 about maybe less and it is private value sale at 20,100$ this seems *** backwards to me haha. Still 16k trade in
I think I paid $15K for my built 2.0L/35r 03', but in the first month the Exedy Twin died, the head gasket blew, wheel bearings were bad, all brakes were shot, and in fixing everything I found the most disgusting mess of wiring along with off brand parts that were said to be top of the line.
Honestly, if you own an Evo for a long period of time the majority of us come out the same due to mods, maintenance, and broken **** all of the time. What one pays for their car is nearly irrelevant to the amount of money you're going to have in it unless you keep it fairly stock.

That's where I'm at now. Literally. Headgasket, put a low mileage shortblock in cause it looked like it had literally 2X the miles. Clutch was toasted. I've still gotta do an axle and a heater core.
I'm in the car for probably 24K. on my 03. Sucks cause I paid a lot for quality parts that weren't on there, or were improperly installed. Fun. Yeah, ownership cost can be a total dealbreaker on these cars.
cool stuff!
i bought my 05 MR for 15,500 out of state, 70k miles, bone stock with the only mod being a clutch.
i did full bolt ons, E85 tune, some miscellaneus parts, and sold it for 21000 with 83k miles on it.
bought my 04 GSR a couple months ago for 13,500. clean title, 82k miles. no putting lots of money into it lol

This is good info, as I have an 06 mr with 35k original owner. Just in case I decide to sell, because ever since I bought a BMW 335 I don't drive it as much. Now I know I can get at least 18 for it. That's money in the bank.
I got my IX MR back in 2009 for $24.5k with 17k miles at a stealership. All stock other than an invidia exhaust, and in fair condition. No issues until about 60k when the ACD pump went out, got the three lights. Now sitting at 86k miles.
wow, i knew i got a good deal.. its crazy how much they are holding though regardless.. if you compare cars of similar years w/ similar mileage you'll kno what i mean
i bought my 06 GSR brand new for 28k with 1k miles (demo) may of 2007
some of the prices you guys are getting(on the low end) kinda makes me think about getting another one
