Srs

ok i searched just got some reset information on the srs, still got a question or two

ok i need to replace my passenger srs sensor on the front radiator core support, my question is are these sensors handed, i dont think they are but im about to buy one on ebay and id rather make sure if these things are designated side to side

second question is does any evo 8 sensor work? doesnt matter what year correct?
03-05 should all be the same right?

I do realize i will be going to the dealership for the reset

thanks

Both front impact sensors are the same part number. I am certain about the 2004 Evo. However, my shop manual is 04 specific, so I can't positively confirm this for the 03 or 05. I'd be very surprised if they were different. Hope this helps.

On the Evo, they are located on both sides of the radiator support, next to the radiator. They have a yellow plastic harness protector and a yellow plug. They are fastened to the radiator support with two 10 mm bolts.

FYI the sensor does not have to be crushed, or appear to be damaged in any way to be defective! Merely dropping a wrench on one, or dropping the sensor will ruin it. The shop manual gives the following values, measured between the pins on the sensor, which call for replacement:

Less than 2 ohms (a short circuit), or
more than 2 mega ohms (an open circuit), or
continuity (a ground) between either pin and the body of the sensor

One last point, I don't want to insult anyone, but you must use a digital multimeter, not an analog type.

Do you know where the ones on the 03 Lancer are located by chance?

Not specifically. But, I can't think of any reason they would be very different, or located elsewhere. I'd look for a yellow harness and plug on either side of the radiator, near the top of the radiator support. On the Evo, they are between the headlight and the side of the radiator. They're mounted with two 10mm screws to a short tab welded to the radiator support. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Like my shop manuals, I'm kind of Evo specific.

SRS needs to be reset by bodyshop/mitsu dealer, i have not found a way to reset Via our tactrix yet and i say Yet. The srs system will NOT work correctly accorcdling with the SRS light on, I.E if you did NOT replace the drivers side steering wheel with a 2 amp fuse and u have srs light on due to this it will create problems with the passanager side air bag going off in a collistion. reset all SRS light[s] and keep OEM if possible. I have replaced my steering wheel with after market yet i have kept the passanger side stock for accidents so my passanger will Have a airbag deplyed while i wont. IF YOUR SRS LIGHT IS ON YOUR AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY!!!

With that in mind,To answer your question they are the same But be mindfull of what i have stated above.
i have been into a Head on 50mph accident where a airbag has acutalty saved my life with out the aid of a safty belt so please take this into account. As new cars are engineerd with the airbag being deployed to save your life.
So what im saying is Keep OEM as possible in this aspect, SRS light off and systems working as they should. This should honestly be double checked and checked again. Just saying cause a airbag did save my life, id have kept mine OEM but i dont DD my car anymore and its used mostly for AUTOX. Where a removable steering wheel is more convientient for my situation.
