I paid $10,800 for my 03 Apex silver Evo with 150k in Nov 2012. It runs great I got it tuned on the IX turbo it made 300whp/300ft lbs on a mustang dyno on 91. I bought it with intentions to build a motor and go BIG power. So far no issues, the 4G motors are tough and durable.

 

I don't understand some of the logic here. How is 10k for a 100k+ mile 2003 evo a lowball offer? Sure the guy has mods done to it, but you don't get that money back when selling it. Everyone thinks that an evo is a ****ing exotic and that they need to be sold for a premium. 10k is a good price for that vehicle.
The 4g motors are very strong and can last for quite some time. If its the reliability that the OP is worried about, then he can put it back close to stock and sell off the aftermarket parts. Get a good tune on it and call it a day. Plus, aren't the costs of parts to do a motor build relatively affordable?
10k evo+5k motor build= solid built evo for cheap. What's the issue?

I picked up the 05 MR. Drove it back yesterday on a 6 hour drive. It is an awesome car. Glad I did not get the 03.

 

If you want an evo under 20K there are plenty of nicer newer 9's for 17-20K. Those will have a lot less miles and opens the door to finding unmolested ones...

Haha thank you, I've learned it's worth shelling out the extra thousands to get what you want rather than something that isn't all it's cracked up to be. The only reason I considered the 03 was because it was literally 10-15 minutes away and I knew the guy.

 

good choice, i would take my 05 over an 04 and under as well... prefer to be as close to the ix as possible lol.
