Evo VIII Using Oil + Black smoke on Start up
Evo VIII Using Oil + Black smoke on Start up
I have done a good bit of research on this topic but found none that matches mine.
Well I have a 03 evo 8 fq300 with 330 piggyback ecu. It has 61000 miles and it also has a stock motor. The only upgrades I have is an apexi induction kit and evo 9 gt turbo.
About a year ago I had the head gasket replaced, and while the mechanic was doing it he replaced valve seals and cam seals. There was no problem with the head gasket since then that I can see.
I have also upgraded to the evo 9 turbo recently, about 900 miles ago. There was two main reasons I did this, I found the car was using a bit too much oil and thought of upgrading the turbo for reliability.
I though the old turbo might have had bad seals and thought the new turbo would have helped but it doesn't seem to have
The car is still using a bit too much oil according to a mate of mine that deals with evos and I can see his point.
On start ups there is whitish kind of smoke but it normal, however if I rev the car especially when its not fully warmed up a lot of black smoke comes from the exhaust. I know you shouldn't rev a car when its cold but I give it a few mins. Also when I hit boost for the first few times after start driving it launches black smoke. It seems like oil is seeping down into the cylinders, would I be correct? I had a compression test carried out on the car and all cylinders have prefect compression.
Any help is appreciated guys

I don't drive mine daily usually just in the weekend and mine is the same way. If I get on it While it has been sitting for a while i get black smoke, but once it clears out then it's fine. I figured it was normal lol.... Mine does not use oil though.

get rid of the piggy back and get it mapped, where are you located .
