Yes I know the price will be absolutely ridiculous and honestly, no one will even see the beginnings of this build for atleast 3 years, that's my estimate. But yeah, I want more displacement(2.4l), preferably without a stroker kit. My goals are more cylinders for the stability at such high horsepower, to do a cool project people might actually be interested in, and further my fab skills aslong as stand out a bit.
So you're after a 1000hp engine with driveability and a part time AWD/RWD set up? If you increase the number of cylinders, you will likely lose the ability to retain the AWD completely.

Thank you for the serious responses. All the evo guys in my area say I'm dreaming, but the stories of bigger engine swaps keep following me around coincidentally. More Top Secret projects and Tom's projects keep presenting themselves to me. So I'm inspired. And what makes the Evo so "perfect?" There's nothing more mechanically in sync than a AWD tuned I4 2.0l?
But you are looking into ditching the AWD I4 setup? You will lose that "sync".

Finally, does anyone think keeping a 4g63 is a better decision for this build than a 6a13t? I'd convert to use a large Garrett, not two small turbos.
The aftermarket support for the 4G is far greater than the 6As. Stick with the 4G.

To achieve what you want, here is what I think you should do:

-Buy 2 cars, an evo and another RWD car. Don't buy 2 evos, a factory RWD car will give better results than a RWD evo.
-Stick with the 4G63 in the evo. Lower your HP goal. 1000hp is more than you need for what you want to do. It's only a number. As Ryosuke Takahashi says, less HP can make you faster. 6-800 HP will be enough to wipe the floor with most people you will come across.
-The right RWD car will enable you to do a swap with more cylinders and displacement with a lot less fab work, do your big swap with this car and go as stupid as you want.

Id say follow you heart, but I will also say this would be stoooopid.

Im noticing lately that people have been posting up ways to "ruin" an Evo. These cars are awesome with or without mods, why not just enjoy what Mitsu produced. But if thats what you wanna do, GL. Post pics when completed.

the only real option if you really wanted a V6 to do this is going with a 6g74/75 combo like the 3kgt guys do.

There are quite a few 900+awhp 3kgts running around now.

but once again, the 4g at 1000hp is just as reliable as the 6g75 but lighter and far cheaper to build.

I tend to agree. I'm not sure why it appears logical to some to take a rare vehicle, from a company that will likely not exist in any real capacity in another few years, and make it into something that is already widely available on the open market?

I'm not a hater, I love creativity. But OP, you're talking about a "stock looking" widebodied Evo 9 that can make 1000hp by not using the stock motor (even though the 4G63 can make 1000hp) and running it RWD?

I think that's as asinine as the fellow who posted that he wanted to take the Evo chassis and make it into a Nissan Z?

To comment on your comment about the Evo being perfect. No, I don't think the Evo is perfect. I don't really think any car is, and I think that's part of the fun of cars. You do what you want to make it perfect. But when you've spent your kids college education on doing the same thing that's already been done 'differently', stop by and let us know how it worked out.

Of all of my 800+ posts on here... I'm 100% positive that you could've said that about at least 50% of them. However, I fail to actually see why you think my post makes me an idiot? Or were you referring to the OP? In which case... see Raptord's comment.

Alright everybody. Thanks for the awesome input. I really was unsure that the 4g63 could hold that type of power on only 4 cylinders. But thanks again everybody. I know 1000 horses is way too much for drifting but thats why it's just show drifting and not competition. Off topic, I think a Silvia s15 may be the car i swap a 6 cyl into since it's already RWD. And much cheaper than an EVO. But finally thanks again guys, just have to get my build plan together and hop on it.
