I finally got this fixed. They replaced the bulb and the "headlamp control unit". It was covered under warranty. The work order says "Short in L/F headlamp module blowing bulb". Sounds like a somewhat common problem.

My left HID is out as well. I took it in to the service dept and they didn't have the parts. They wanted to give me a rental car and said the fix would take 2 days! They won't order the parts until they take my car apart. They won't listen to me on the fact that the problem is the ballast/headlight controller. I refuse to turn over the car them for 2 days and I won't leave the dealership while my car is there. When the service rep went to get my car after I refused to leave it there, I saw him and the mechanic cracking up about me telling them what the problem was and that it doesn't take 2 days to take the bumper off and fix the light. I also told him I would have mitsubishi advise them what to do.

I got the fan control recall done a while back and they didn't have the part for that either. Then the mechanic left the intake hose loose and it popped off while I was driving. He also left one of the filter box clips unclipped and wedged down between some wiring and the box. I pulled the box and put the hose back on and clipped the top of the airbox back down. This is why I don't leave my car at the dealership.

Any advice on getting this headlight fixed?

brought from the dead.

it doesn't take 2 days to fix that. it'll take 30 minutes tops, replacing defective parts. I think it'll take 2 days to order the parts.

I think they just wanna have some fuun with your car, that's it.

HID headlights won't work on 12 volts. They require about 20,000 volts to start and about 100 volts to run. The gismo that supplies these voltages is called the ballast.
