Mitsubishi Evo TSB May 2013 [MERGE]

Don't know if anyone else got this in the mail - they called it a "Customer Satisfaction Campaign SC-13-002" but it looks like a TSB of some sort to me for all 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions.

Basically it looks like they want to pull back where the engine fuel cuts, as "over redline" situations cause wear to the cat. AKA this doesn't affect 95% of us.

Thoughts? Something else going on here, or is this all it is? Like I said, doesn't impact most of us anyway, but kinda wondering if anyone else got this in the mail.

I was thinking that could be possible, but I don't know many 06 evos still in warranty

yes under normal warranty all cars would be out of warranty due to the new purchase date of the car. but simply this is just a recall of sorts. so if your under 100k take it in, get a free cat, and $50 of gas...if your beyond 100k your not eligible for it.

It says PCM is going to be reprogram and that the catalytic converter will be inspected and replaced if necessary. Does not say you're going to get a new catalytic converter.

This is my evo

Yea eff that. Not bringing to dealer for them to joyride and break ****. Probably look to see its modded/ecu flashed. Probably negating the free warranty repair anyways. LOL. No point. I don't have a cat either. Not gonna waste my time replacing the cat and driving over wasting gas just so I can get a card to compensate my time and gas to get over there in first place. -__- Anyways my redline is 8k and shift at 7500-8k at the track. I overide and go past the fuel cut anyways. :P

yeah i've called a couple of dealers today about what the flash is actually for and no one can give me a straight answer. All that they are telling me is that its a "software update". im not taking mine in untill i get a straight answer

Dudes.

If you have a tune, there's no reason AT ALL to take your car in. It has nothing to do with the cat.

The ONLY cars that this would affect would be cars running the stock maps. TBPH, if you're running the stock map, I most likely STILL wouldn't take it in. I'd take it to a tuner, and get a tune, and pick up the extra WHP you're going to get, and the better fuel economy.

There's no debate.

If you're stock mapped, take it in, if you aren't then you couldn't benefit from it anyway... why the debate?

if you have a tune and aren't paying attention you might be seriously pissed.

happened to me at Don Beyer Subaru in Alexandria. They couldn't tell I had a fat aftermarket TMI, VR30 turbo and 3" TBE with a loud-*** magnaflow? Anyway, they had my 02 WRX in for some basic service and without even asking just reflashed my **** and ****ed my tune up.
