Boost leak test

Has anyone on here try to use a fog machine to check for boost leak? I got a fog machine in my halloween props and was thinking of using it to check for boost leak since I am not getting boost

No. Do not use a fog machine to check for boost leaks. And do not use a fog machine to check for vacuum leaks.

If you're having trouble doing a boost leak test, get a spray bottle and fill it with soapy water. Spray it on every joint, charge, and look/listen/feel for bubbles.

Tighten and repeat.

A fog machine prop is going to cause more damage than it would repair.

A proper vacuum leak should be detected by using propane. Not starter fluid. Not a fog machine. Not a smoke machine.

Good advice. Have any tips for checking the small lines behind the motor or any other connections that cannot be reached with a spray bottle? Sometimes I think I hear leaks, but I don't feel any air...

For boost leaks? The only lines behind the motor I can think of off the top of my head would be the TB seals and the solenoids off the pax side of the intake manifold? Those should all be reachable. If there is more plumbing back there it would only be those little lines. Throw a ziptie around them, and tighten it? You can even put a thin layer of sticky grease over the nipple (hiyo!) to assist with the sealing.

If you're talking about vac leaks, I would HIGHLY suggest getting a hose on the end of whatever propane tank you're using. That way you can navigate it around to wherever.

If you are not getting any boost and you can't hear/see the leak then you are blind and deaf. J/K But seriously, if your missing those last 1-2psi then you need a soap bottle, if your not getting any boost and you don't hear a boost leak when running a correct boostleak test, then there's something else wrong besides a leak aka wastegate/boost controller/turbo.
