Then we have a winner, the Evolution! It is just under 30k and out performs the rx8, while the Sti will cost over 30k (apx 34k) but probably wont be much better than the evo(if it is at all).

The 6 speed on the rx8 is optional... it comes standard with a at that is 207 bhp not 250. So you gota pay extra if you want to like a mad man. =\ Kinda sux but o well. Go EVO so much cooler ^ ^

The Evo clutch should last fine as long as you don't dog it too much. If you plan to dump the clutch a lot, then say bye-bye:

This is off my memory but, the 4sp. auto ran about 25k(yes 207hp and an even lower 146 tourque), and the 6sp manual ran mid 27k (still less than the evo, but that little extra is worth it to buy the evo)

I can't wait for the first track comparison between this new generation of sport compacts - 350Z, Evo, WRX (both variants), R32, SRT-4, G35 hell throw in a Mustang and Vette for fun... that will be fun... it is a good time to be a car nut!

Hell, I would take your car over all of those besides the evo, sti and the vette Z06, but it would still be cool to see that comparison anyways, just for the hell of it. To see if you really do get what you pay for.

heh, thanks... but I just sold it to clear out room for my forthcoming evo. the fd is a nice little car, but I was getting tired of dealing with some of the problems revolving around the 13btt. making an fd reliable is difficult and expensive. that and having two car payments sucks, so as soon as my lease is up on my subaru, I will get my evo.

On the Evo you get a turbo charged 2L, this makes 271chp and apx. 280 tourque, this goes through a five speed manual tothe awd which I believe is a 2 way rear lsd and a open front diff., and comfortable 5 passanger seating, guarentied to beat the rx8 in probably all competitions(0-60, 1/4 mile, obviously rallying, auto-x, and track).

..But the evo is a couple thousand dollars more than the rx8, in my opinion this is definitely worth the extra dough for the performance and utility advantage you would have over the rx8.
You need to read up some more on the RX-8...I have the SCC mag here and it's a much better car than the RX-7 was with regard to refinements. Granted it doesn't have the power the EVO has, but would probably give most EVO owners fits on the track. You throw in the 350Z which has 280+hp and the pot is crowded with cars all in the same range. EVO, STi, RX-8,350Z etc... I'm sure as the year goes on other vehicles will follow suit.

You decide what medicine you want.

2GTSiAWD - I am going to have to disagree with you in regards to the RX8 on the track. I think it's absolute lack of mid-range torque is going to kill it in auto-x & amateur track events. From what I have read in R&T SCC etc it seems to have an excellent chassis, and quieter & more refined then the fd, but it is down on HP and up on weight, not a great thing. I am extremely happy it has come way down in price, but it has a lot to live up to - the fd was such a great car even with all the problems owners had with the 13b.

Thats what I was trying to say in my post. Funny isnt it how when you are in the middle of posting and then when you submit, you find that someone has just said what you were trying to say.
