I can't help you out, I don't know the exact weight. I'm sure it will be under the EVO though. There are Spec C parts on the US STI, wink, wink.

However, the Evo7 also had more torque and active diffs to help compensate for the weight.

The 8 weighs more has less torque and no active diffs. The Scooby has more torque, active diffs, and (most likely) less weight. Is it really that hard to figure it out?

Those are called facts. But what is your point in stating those facts? There must be some reason for saying those things.

Here, Ill spell it out. The Evo8 weighs more and dosnt have the power to compensate it as much as the 7 did. The STi does have the power and then some. Its my firm opinion, by what Ive read so far, that the STi will be faster.

It's a no-brainer that the stock US Evo8 is going to be slower than a stock US STi because of the weight and power.
The JDM Evo7/6/5 is quicker because they weigh much less and have more power.

50kg is a lot for a race-car! 50 kg is equivalent to having a passenger in the car all the time. For a heavy car, the difference wouldnt be so great but on lighter cars, 50kg is a lot.

The US Evo8 is a porky 200kg more than the Evo6 and yet has less power. 200kg is about 440lbs. That is like having 3 passengers in the car . . .
Hopefully, the suspension will more than make up for it.

Bah, the evo is good enough for my money and sticking with it . 29hp doesnt make a difference to me, besides it should be much more cheaper and im not gunna wait any longer to decide which car i want. Im happy enough they finally brought one over to America!

No, it's not just you, that is all we've got. Anyone bad-mouthing Subaru fans for racing on paper needs to take a step back and look at what they're doing.

Funny thing is, unlike Mitsubishi, Subaru released damn near all their information right after they announced they were bringing it to America. Go check out www.impreza.subaru.com . Mitsubishi really pissed me off making us wait three months to get any info. Also, the only two things that Subaru hasn't announced are...

Weight: You can find the weight of all recent STi's on the internet, complete with 6-speed and DCCD. Granted, we don't know exactly what the new 2.5 engine will weigh, but it can't be that much more. The STi engine also uses lighter weight parts than the WRX.

Price: Anounced at the unveiling, "Low $30,000" So at most, and I mean the MOST, you're looking at $34,999. Not bad considering what all you're getting extra over an Evo. Popular belief on the Impreza forums though is that it'll be $31k.

I'm not just a complete Subaru nut that's trolling for responses from the Evo forum, but you've got to admit this is going to be a FINE vehicle, and that Mitsubishi really did drop the ball a couple of times along the way to getting the Evo here. And with the history between these two cars....c'mon! This is like if the US learned that not only has Iraq landed men on the moon, but have colonized it and opened up the first Starbucks there. Major news in the rally car wars! So of course there's going to be a lot of talk about the STi here. There was a lot of talk about the Evo over on NASIOC a few weeks ago.

That said, I'm getting an STi. Now, commence with the stone throwing....
