Evo vs. STI | Anything and Everything [ALL THREADS MERGED]
for a reason too, but let's face reality for a moment... our lancers have potential but WRX's have natural talent. I'm not saying all wrx's are better than lancers ... i know some turbo lancers on this board have smoked some. Maybe things will turn around w/ the arrival of the new Lancer OZ or the EVOVIII

, or market it towards the whole FATF crowd. It is a smart marketing strategy but, I dont want to have a label or be a sterotype. That really pisses me off.
Edit: Count 'em. Three bold words people!

Fast and Furious did wonders on resale value on supras, and RX7's. Hopefully i'll do the same with our's.
EVO is built in Japan. Thus, quality and reliability should be good.
I agree that
dealer services could be better. Tempe
here is pretty good, though the new GM is a jerk.
The Normal plant is getting better. THey have been the most improved plant on the efficiency list 3 years running and are noe the 32rd most efficient plant in the U.S. Also, warranty costs are down, which translates into better quality. The Eclipse is still on the Lemon list though...
then again, so is the Honda S2k.

Ahhh, the sti is so tempting. They sent letters saying april for arrivals.
better hurry it up b4 i put a deposit for a sti.
My largest concern with the sti is handling. Which will handle better on tarmac? Too bad i can't afford both

People mentioned that the new sti uses closed deck block. I thought all engines are closed deck anyways how does that compare to the 4G63? Do we have a closed deck or is that only a variation used for boxter engines

Latest rumors on NASIOC are for a May release of the STi (just FYI)
As far as handling/1320/ - come on now, maybe 1% of the people here will actually be able to push either car to their limits. For the other 99% there will be no difference. Low-end torque however is something that you actually get to use every day
I just bought a WRX (I like the bug eyes, I don't like the new style) - I figure that should keep me entertained for a while
There is one thing both of these cars should share though - tight tight suspension. Even the WRX suspension is a lil rough on road trips - my back trembles in fear of a 4 hour trip in an STi/Evo. I don't have a bad back or anything but I want to keep it that way
DCCD, AYC, ACD, yada yada, it's mostly mag racing masturbation.

You should put that quote in your sig. Also I've been hearing rumors that the 2.5 engine is somewhat fragile and can't take much more power than stock. I think I'm coming back to the Evo...

A few people on NASIOC have turbo'd their 2.5 and blown their engines. Big surprise - turboing an engine that didn't come that way causing problems. Also, the regular EJ25 doesn't have forged everything, whereas the STi has always had forged everything
